From the island of Moheli, we have this rare Scops Owl. This small island off of Madagascar (8 sq mi / 21 sq km) is the only place these owls are found.

Only first recorded in 1998, there is an estimated 200-400 in existence. There are no environmental protections in place on the island, so they are considered endangered.
