Buckle up:
Game will be hyped to the moon, be released with a million bugs and people will cry about how CDPR betrayed them, then a couple years later patch out all the bad things and win everyone’s trust again.
Just like they did with witcher 3.
And Cyberpunk
Yup, Kinda did a bait and switch there to drive home that this is nothing new for CDPR.
I didn’t play TW3 right on launch but CP77 was… fine, on PC. Played it day one, nothing game-breaking.
However four years later the open world still disappoints compared to the masterclass that was TW3. The world feels smaller, the driving sucks ass, and NC doesn’t feel nearly as lively or polished as Novigrad (though it is gorgeous and I did have a great time).
Even two years later, CP2077 was a technical regression from TW3. Bugs aside, can CDPR really pull it together and improve upon TW3 and not repeat the mistakes of CP2077, despite having to learn entirely new engine? I wouldn’t bet too much on it.
After getting Cyberpunk on release, no way will I get this until after all the patches they put down and say they are no longer supporting the game.

Cyberpunk was pretty great after a year or so patching
Oh 100% I’m replaying it rn. It’s a much different game after release.
I got it on Xbox One day one because I bought into the marketing. I’m a sucker for distopian Sci-fi.
I wasn’t disappointed with the story, or the gameplay. I was just disappointed with something that felt unfinished. I felt like I was testing the game.
Since then I’ve bought and played EA games that have felt more flushed out.
Because of Cyberpunk I will never buy a game day one.
it’s a complicated game and they released it to early. they did the work and made it very worthwhile…very dense with shit to do. I definitely get your point though. I didn’t play it on release. The reviews were mediocre but after a year or two the reviews were great and that’s when I played. I give the developers respects for not giving up on the game and making it right
It’s not that complicated imo, and I’m not attempting to diminish your experience.
Though, if you played day one, the hate that was given was completely warranted. Especially if you played on old gen consoles, when they said it was compatible.
This is coming from someone that genuinely liked the game, bugs and all.
Not because I’m cynical, or had grand expectations. It was literally because I never played a game that was so buggy in my life, and I’ve been playing since NES.
I paid for a finished product that wasn’t finished. I was lied to.
I can list the bugs and crashes I experienced, but it’s well documented.
It wasn’t like if No Man’s Sky was over promised and it was basically empty. It was if NMS was released it being empty, and crashed every 2 seconds.
Does it mean that they will finally have a 75% off sales for cyberpunk? Still waiting
Where? Is it still the stellar team that wrote the other witchers or is it now being done in America in the new offices of CDPR? Because the US Dev track record the last few years has been shit (outside of PlayStation studios single player games). Here’s hoping Avowed bucks the trend. As for the witcher, I hope production takes place this side of the pond, otherwise we will end up with a witcher 4 with the blandest, inoffensive and messageless writing in the history of the franchise.
I can already imagine a witcher where the main character uses the power of friendship and positivity to hunt draugrs…
CDPR
Congo’s Democratic Publix Republic?
CD Project Red, the developers of The Witcher.
And Cyberpunk and GOG, not that it’s relevant here.
Where are you getting this idea that American game devs all make the safest most harmless games possible?
GTA is an American-made game franchise and it’s one of the most violent and insulting mainstream titles ever, made by Rockstar, an American company.
On the other side, Tt Games, which makes all the Lego titles of the past 20 years, is a UK-based dev studio. They’re some of the safest, least offensive games ever made.
I don’t think region really matters though.
🤦♂️ both of them are UK based…
I never managed to like Witcher 3. I don’t quite understand why people love it so much.
Cyberpunk 2077 was ok though.
