Actually my title is “Senior Network Architect”. I hate it. I feel like it detracts from real architects, who have licensure and actual training from an actual school.

I hate it as an architect, and I hated it as an “engineer”, for the same reason.

Yes, there’s a lot of complexity and planning, especially at larger scales. But it’s mostly self-taught, some webinars, and a lot of on-the-job (read: trial-by-fire) training.

When it comes to telling computers what to do, I have no idea what to call it. I write Python scripts and Ansible modules, I guess. That doesn’t make me any of those titles though. Some times I poor-mans deamonize my scripts (while true loop) and pack them in a container.

Using some of the same tools doesn’t make me any more of the same title.

This is the latter. Ivanti bought Pulse a few years back. Pulse, iirc, spun out of Juniper and Netscreen.

Ivanti is a huge name in enterprise management. They make LANdesk which has been one of the most widely deployed enterprise endpoint management tools.

Juniper is one of the biggest names in enterprise and service-provider networks.

It’s more like most people are unwilling to find or read directions. Most people can do most things nowadays. They’re just unwilling to try.

I’m sure some do. I haven’t talked to many high school girls lately.

If this goes through and this happened when I was in school…that’d be a once in a lifetime opportunity. I’d probably never even think of it then. I’d probably luck into it by telling the rest of the nerd table at lunch, jock overheard, sell him my services, and then word of mouth from there.

That happening now…probably be the inspiration for the gen Z’s “American Pie”. Or “Superbad”.

High school nerds pay attention. This is how you can make some money and have an excuse to talk to the hot girls…by installing a vpn on their phones so they can still have their tik tok.

Get one popular girls phone set up and every girl in the school will be hitting you up within a week.

I was gonna say that looks like a classic 5200 series. I have that blender and don’t remember spending that much on it. Not that it’s not worth it (it totally is), but it’s still like the entry-level full-size vitamix.

Turns out it was $399 when I bought it, and got a 20% coupon through work, so $340.

That was for Christmas 2020. That same model now retails for $499. Dayum.

Back in my day kids smoked Marlboros because they were cool. Not because they tasted like fruit loops.

As someone who used to smoke 1-2 packs a day, got heavy into vaping (including building my own coils, mods, mixing juice, etc), quit completely by tapering down the nicotine levels, later started back up with pouches, and now vapes pot, I gotta say, banning flavors is fucking stupid.

My state of Massachusetts has banned all flavors of tobacco and vape, Including menthol. You can only get vapor products in unflavored or “tobacco” variants.

The funny thing is, “tobacco” isn’t really a “flavor”. It’s still flavor additives put into the suspension. So the additives clearly aren’t the problem. Tobacco flavored vape products are usually some combination of maple, charred brown sugar, and molasses. Not the actual ingredients, just flavorings that approximate them.

And the additives are generally food grade flavorings. You can legit just go out to Homegoods and buy a pack (as long as you know the right ones, don’t do this at home) and steep a very small amount of whatever flavors you want into your unflavored nic.

Not too long until big box becomes like car dealerships. You don’t buy a car, you buy a loan that comes with a car.

Stores absolutely want you to get a credit card. I’m sure they get a share of the interest and fees and for many transactions that’s probably more than their gross margin on the sale itself.

Is that like Fear and Loathing but like set in a Radio Shack?
