Does your dad do lines of coke and run a casino?
My parent spidey senses are tingling. Besides the ADHD, is there anything else happening in his life? Major life change (changing school; new friends, etc)? He may not feel comfortable vocalizing yet if there is in fact something affecting him
Hey guess what? They pretty have the same minimalist ui. Way to miss the entire point I made
Also, I never mentioned Photoshop. Open any standard drawing app that was developed recently: Procreate, Infinite Paint, Krita, Fresco. Look how straightforward it is to start working. Look at the Ui. It doesn’t get in the way.
Edit: oh no the FOSS evangelists are not feeling it. I get it. I use a lot of FOSS apps for work. That doesn’t mean we have to be evangelical in our defense of FOSS. Recognize there are issues and we can work to fix them. Don’t get so defensive, Lemmy. My god.
Yes, as an artist I will choose the path of least resistance. Open any new drawing app today: Procreate, Infinite Paint, Krita, Fresco and look how clean and easy it is to get right to the point and start working. Now open GIMP and pull my eyelashes out already. The tool should not get in the way of the task. I’m with Steve Jobs on this, sorry. Computers are means to an end. For some they can be hobbies. Linux exists. Have fun.

If you think Photoshop has anywhere near the learning curve that is GIMP then I’m sorry. There is nothing I can do to convince you and this conversation is dead in the water. If something free was on par even slightly with Photoshop, then a whole industry would have shifted over to avoid the burden of costs. There’s a reason the potato shop UI hasn’t changed in 20 years.
Barf. Or maybe, just maybe, we have other shit to do rather than spend hours trying to figure out how to do one thing in Gimp. It’s great that YOU’RE passionate about tech. Some of us have other hobbies. Imagine that holy shit
If you voted for Stein you might as well have voted for Trump or thrown it in the trash. Same difference
I’d be careful with this one. Being verbose in non-fiction does not produce good writing automatically. In my opinion the best writers in the world have an economy of words but are still eloquent and rich in their expression
I understand now. You seem out of the loop on a lot of stuff. You keep assuming you know the instances I’m talking about and jump right away to playing major defence. Why don’t you just ask which events I’m referring to instead of jumping the gun? I’m friendly, I promise.
I’ve been following Hasan’s content for about five years when he was just a guest nobody on other people’s twitch streams.
The babies deserve to die is when he joined that stream with that other idiot second thought. Plenty of clips floating around yt if you need to catch up. No, it was not clipped out of context. Always with the context.
I don’t care to nitpick each event because again, we’re getting lost in the forest. He wants to tell trans people to un alive, fine be edgy or whatever.
If there’s one critique I’d like everyone to take about Hasan is his superficial and shallow engagement on any topic. He can say just enough to sound intelligible without having to get into specifics. To someone not familiar with any given topic, he sounds clever and informed. At some point he will engage with a topic you too @Resonosity@lemmy.dbzer0.com will be intimately familiar with and the curtain will fall. He has an extremely shallow and vapid take on any topic that it makes my eyes bleed. But he knows how to say just enough to sound smart. If that’s what you’re into and you find his content entertaining you do you. I’m not here to judge anyone for the twitch streamers they follow. I will also never understand the parasocial relationships people have with twitch streamers but whatever.
I won’t even go into the whole performative dance about class solidarity while living in a million dollar mansion in Beverly hills and driving a Porsche. I don’t care how many donation stream drives he does, it all comes off as disingenuous and icky.
Lastly, I would like to leave with some positive alternatives:
Harper O’Connor. Notable video: Yt Link
Gary Stevenson. Leftist content pushing for the working class. Multi millionaire, drives a Peugeot 107. I only mention this because he makes it a point why capital and dick riding materialism is poison.
Lonerbox. Very informed on history and me.
You’re missing the forest for the trees. The cherry picked examples are not at all interesting or what I’m referring to.
It’s wonderful that he’s since retracted his position on Ukraine. It’s wonderful that he’s changed his tune on the hospital bombing. That’s not the issue.
The problem is the pattern.
He jumps to conclusions that fit his narrative and speaks with extreme confidence on things he knows almost nothing. It’s strange, because he has a poli Sci degree. But the most research I’ve seen him do on stream is read Twitter headlines.
I don’t care for Ethan either. I’m not interested in defending him. But Frogan has said WAY more despicable things than the Habibi thing. That’s not even relevant. Frogans charged language earned a temp ban on Twitch. The way she also called Ethan throughout the fallout was also despicable. But hey, it’s just Hasans community. He has no control over it, right?
Also, Hasan can’t handle the slightest criticism. After he botched that trans debate, a trans person in his chat mentioned some of the things he got wrong. What was Hasans response: he tells that person that he hopes they unalive themselves. Wow. Let’s keep simping for this wonderful individual.
Or that time he endorsed killing babies because after all, even babies of Israeli settlers are also occupiers. Barf.
We haven’t even scratched the surface.
Should I go on? Do you see the pattern now?
I don’t watch Ethan because I don’t like him or care for him. He’s got nothing interesting to say. But my god, do we have to simp for Hasan? Is this the best we got in the twitch political streaming world? Come on…
Hasan doesn’t lie?? Really?? Look, it’s not intentional, like malicious lies but holy hell is the man uniformed on… Everything. Yet he speaks with so much confidence. He repeats so many Russia talking points when covering Ukraine (not to even mention that time he outright said Russia had a right to invade Ukraine). Or that time he called the jdam hitting a hospital in Gaza killing 500 people only for it to turn out to be a misfired rocket hitting a parking lot. But he’s so confident. All the time. Give me a fucking break. Not to mention his toxic community and fans (Frogan) saying the most despicable shit ever. They are not healthy people and it’s all a big performative joke.
There are hours of YouTube videos disproving Hasan lies. And no, before you jump to hit reply, it’s not “clipped out of context”. I’ve watched all the context.
Also, the guy doesn’t do debates any more because he’s a whiny loser who cries because he can’t spend five minutes to do the most basic of basic research before forming an opinion.
There are WAY better leftie content to follow on YT/Twitch. Start with Loner Box maybe. Anyone really.
There is nothing healthy about Hasans coverage of this. He is completely audience captured and will say the most unhinged things. Also, he lies non-stop and the fact he has a platform this big is really sad
This is so dumb. Ethan s always been anti apartheid and settlements, but the Hassan fans got into a tiffy because he called them out for their unhinged - and they really are unhinged takes
I’m familiar with the concept of transfer (and the Nur paper is indeed very interesting). However, we can’t turn back the clock. It happened a hundred years ago and it sucks. It was awful. That being said, Israel is not going anywhere and the Jews are never going to change gears --esp after Oct 7. Despite their grievances, the Palestinians walked away from several proposals for two state solutions. The return to the 67 borders was only palatable after the Palestinians walked away and it backfired. The fact remains: Israel did cede copious amounts of land back to the Palestinians (after first intifada) and Israel also demolished many settlements. It takes two to tango and negotiations with Palestinian leadership never seems to work out. It’s unfortunate that Gaza is turning into an apartheid condition and I don’t condone the way the IDF is handling the situation at all.
Edit: by the way, I’m appreciating the links to articles and sources you provide.
Too bad Palestinians turned down multiple times a two state solution.
Maybe. They most certainly have monological worldview. Every statement is distilled down to a binary prism of logical deductions. It’s either A or B. There is no other alternative.
Again with the buzzwords “western imperialism pattern”. You have nothing of substance to say. It’s like a bingo card of poli-sci 101 buzzwords
I don’t think this is entirely accurate. I know ultimately Kathleen called a lot of the shots and was very meddling in the production and I thitk Ryan was trying to do something original after seeing what a superficial piece of garbage TFA was. Ryan is actually a good writer / director.
