Is it ironic? We can’t know nowadays.

The US only joined the allies because of Japan’s war declaration. They were mostly happy making bank with both sides before that.
The communications systems in german tanks were working with Graham Bell technology. Their electronics were big on american parts too. Part of the oil that fueled the invasion of Poland and France was from the US. A big part of US’ elites were pro-Hitler (for them the guy was a godsend against communism). The safest places to hide during the American bombings in Germany were the IBM factories.

lmagitem@lemmy.zipto World News@lemmy.world•Former Ukrainian parliament speaker Andriy Parubiy murdered in LvivEnglish54·10 days agoCheck out Dmytro Yarosh, Pravy Sektor or the Azov Brigade for example. They have far more reach than “1% on elections”.
Historicaly the nazis were very popular in Ukraine because they fought against the soviets which, as you can guess, weren’t much liked by most of the population. They were seen as heroes and liberators by a lot of people. That doesn’t make it right, but it makes sense. History has a tendency to be grey like that.
Well, those groups were obviously among the first to fight against the Russians in eastern Ukraine after Maïdan. They were very active in the Maïdan revolution too.
It’s a valid thing to point out that integrating neo-nazi or nazi-adjacent people like that in the government and war machine is problematic. That doesn’t invalidate Ukraine’s legitimacy or give credit to Russia’s stupid claims. But denying those facts only fuels the russian propaganda machine.

Ukraine had a big problem with far right, and it was full of corruption. I don’t know to which extent it is still true, but that doesn’t mean we should let Russia annex or ethnically cleanse them.

He flat out refused.
They perfectly knew they were in the process of killing him.
lmagitem@lemmy.zipto Technology@lemmy.world•Kick faces possible $49 M fine after French streamer Jean Pormanove dies on airEnglish72·15 days agoFrom what I understood the two fuckers will probably get a 25 to 30 years of jail sentence, and some of the people who donated money to them to encourage them in the torture also risk prison time. Which I fucking hope they get.
Someone took upon himself to save all the worst clips and try to raise the alarm, they have more than 300 hours of stream capture with evidence of torture and other wrongdoings.
lmagitem@lemmy.zipto Technology@lemmy.world•Kick faces possible $49 M fine after French streamer Jean Pormanove dies on airEnglish120·15 days agoIf I understood properly the guy was a kinda homeless person that the two fuckers “hosted” in their house in exchange for participating (being tortured) in their streams. He was disabled or mentally challenged too, and there was another victim of theirs that was handicapped in the flat too.
The alarm has been raised for at least 8 months but neither the police nor the national agencies nor the minister contacted either did or decided to do anything. Every time the police came the victims were saying that all was good and they gave their consent to anything, but on stream they were often asking to call the cops, an ambulance or trying to leave and the two fuckers barred them the exit and threatened to beat them or throw them back to the streets. So they were basically held hostage.
The whole thing is a disgrace. It was the most viewed French language stream on Kick for months, two vulnerable people being tortured on stream and nobody did anything.

Especially since it probably wasn’t the reason they surrendered. There are multiple papers on the subject. They didn’t really grasp the difference between the atomic bombs and regular bombing, and the US were carpet bombing multiple other cities at the time. They probably surrendered because of the Soviet advance after failed talks with them, which definitely reduced their chances to zero.

Every one of the people I’ve met that studied psychology in university were either mentally lost, crazy, manipulative or a combination of those. But I’m from France and school is free here so there are a lot of people going to university just to try or because they have no idea what to do otherwise, the crowd might be different when you have to go in debt to study.

There is not and will never be any valid reason to create a hidden database of non-verified, non-authorized and potentially defamatory information about other people.
I don’t think people would have a problem with driving a fast car either, you enjoy what you enjoy. Just respect the limit and the lives of others around you. Or go crazy on a circuit.
