  • Human beings are the problem, sadly. That’s why this shit keeps taking cyclical paths through time. All of this has happened before, and all of it will happen again. When the only link between all the past cycles is human beings, we might be the problem. There is a constant human urge to find meaning. Most look externally to find it. But there have always been those who, instead, turn internally and derive that meaning through the control of others.

Any AGI, whether generated or spontaneously spawned, will come to this conclusion, too. Then, once that AGI finds an independent power source, or some way to exist after humans no longer keep the lights on, it will accelerate the solution to nullifying that cycle. It may take a few centuries to get to the end, but if we make it far enough to hit AGI, it won’t take long to see how there will never be an end to the cycles so long as humans exist.

And maybe that’s why we find no evidence of intelligent life in the universe. By the time any sufficiently intelligent species come to be, they inevitably try to find some way to improve their condition through automation and technology. They rely more and more on the advancement of that tech to remove the burdens in their lives, even the burden of that intelligence itself. Eventually, they are removed by their replacements or annihilate themselves in the process.

It’s a depressing thought, but we’ve been around for something like 100k years and still fail to find a balance between each other and our environment. So far the means to wipe ourselves out entirely have been nonexistent. However, tech advancements the last 250-years, with no change to the human consciousness, makes me think any further tech will just perpetuate this extinction at a more precipitous rate.

  • tRump is that kid in school who talks about whatever is on his mind, giving away secrets without even realizing they should be secrets

    • He openly admitted he was rigging the election.
    • Praised Elon for rigging the machines in Pennsylvania.
    • Blamed democrats for a secret cabal of pedophiles who run the world (yet to be proven).
    • Talked about clearly doctored images as proof of guilt.
    • Accused Biden and Harris about starting a war to stay in power.

This dude is guilty as fuck for everything you could think up and he gives the whole game away constantly like he’s just taunting someone to do something about it. He’s just yet to get caught for some or had accountability for others. It’s a never ending charade of complete, brazen corruption and bullshit. I fucking hate this world.

  • I thought I was the only one who found KDE to be far TOO customizable. I used GNOME on openSUSE and actually enjoyed it. Used KDE on PoP! and hated it. Of course, the distro may have played a part in that. PoP never seemed to run right on my dual gfx Yoga 720. Using Cinnamon with Mint on it and I like it, but agree with a lack of all desired customization options. I can do about 90% of the tweaks I like to make.

I’ve never heard of cydia, though. Of course I’m like a 110yo on Windows when it comes to Linux usage. I couldn’t even get openSUSE to reinstall from a flash drive after testing some other distros. Kept getting out of memory when it would attempt to install. I do think it was my favorite flavor of all the ones I tried!

  • Capitalism strikes again! All the good generative AI could and does sometimes do but some capitalist made an email sound less like a soulless, corporate turd and it was to the moon with whatever state the tech was at! Rich people have no creativity, imagination, or understanding of the tech. They’re always looking for ways to remove labor costs and make those phat stacks! We could have used generative AI to handle a lot of the shitty, mundane stuff at a faster rate, but no they chose to replace the artists’ creations so they didn’t have to pay for the cost of labor.
