      Easy:

Modi is working with Russia to prevent Indian citizens from being tricked into the Russians meat grinder…

Now every Indian going to Russia will know ahead of time they’re being used for the meat grinder and have a life expectancy of weeks and likely won’t even be provided with a gun to fight a war.

      Transparency!

From India’s pov, China is always the Boogeyman, they don’t really need explicitly involved.

For Biden I think the propaganda will be that America siding with Ukraine should be taking as a warning that America will side with Pakistan. Maybe even to the point where India starts a war with Pakistan by attacking America first.

If we do see WW3 I think China will take the Soviets spot where it starts out as them fighting their own war against Russia’s side, then hopefully they align with the modern allies to stop the modern axis.

And we’re left with a cold war style thing between China and the West.

Which like, we’re kind of doing already?

There’s just too many different wars going on and countries will continue to join one side or the other as they drag on.

Recent European elections are a good sign at least, but shit could expand to an actual World War really any day now. It’s not guaranteed to pop off, but it’s been too close to comfort for years now already

Everyone with that unfortunate condition that I have met has had an unquestionably good heart. I would put any of them in charge of Russia, despite their cognitive disabilities, over Putin. At least they wouldn’t do overtly evil shit and they’d probably listen to people if they said not to do something because it was a bad idea.

Edit: Also, the above post was flagged and I’m not sure whether I would consider that post as ableism or not, which is why I didn’t delete it when I saw it and tried to respond with something positive instead, so I would like some opinions please before I make a final decision. Unless another mod gets to it first, of course.

Edit 2: Another mod decided on the matter. Sorry if anyone thought it should have stayed up.

I think the problem is that it can still be offensive without meaning to be. I just wasn’t sure as a mod whether or not it crossed that line, but it looks like someone else decided it did.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

Russia has had strong ties with India since the Cold War, and New Delhi’s importance as a key trading partner for Moscow has grown since the Kremlin sent troops into Ukraine in February 2022.

The partnership between Moscow and New Delhi has become fraught, however, since Russia started developing closer ties with India’s main rival, China, because of the hostilities in Ukraine.

Chietigj Bajpaee, senior South Asia research fellow at the U.K.-based Chatham House, said India is becoming increasingly estranged from forums in which Russia and China play a prominent role.

A confrontation in June 2020 along the disputed China-India border dramatically altered their already touchy relationship as the rival troops fought with rocks, clubs and fists.

Facing an arrest warrant by the International Criminal Court for actions over the war in Ukraine, Putin’s foreign travel has been relatively sparse in recent years, so Modi’s trip could help the Russian leader boost his image.

India-Russia trade has seen a sharp increase, touching close to $65 billion in the 2023-24 financial year, due to strong energy cooperation, Indian Foreign Secretary Vinay Mohan Kwatra told reporters Friday.
