Hey, guys. I am currently in the middle of enhancing my printing and scanning workflow with docker. I already got a CUPS Server running and I am using scanservjs to access my scanner. It works wonderfully.
Now I encountered a problem which I cannot solve. Googled a lot but couldn’t find anything. My wife and me are using our work PCs a lot. We want to be able to print from our work PCs. But IT department says no. We are not allowed to add our printers at home. (I wonder why actually. Is this really a security thread?)
Is there a CLIENT for CUPS with a web gui, so you can upload a pdf file and it automatically send it to your CUPS default printer?
I haven’t tried it, but there’s a Nextcloud app called Skyprint
Aaah, yes I was looking for something like this. Now i just need NextCloud xD
Well, CUPS simply runs on a port, I’ve always accessed it via localhost:631.
Have you tried opening :631?
Yes, sure I did. But then I get to the CUPS SERVER gui. Thats no problem. But I am looking for a CLIENT.
Not here to help, just always baffled how people use their work devices for personal use.

Yes, there’s research that printing drivers may be used to take over the system. https://community.pharos.com/s/article/New-PrintNightmare-Windows-Exploit-CVE-2021-36958
