I have been so satisfied with the features so far. But I thought it would be better if I run vaultwarden on os level to autofill other applications. And I found 5-year-old thread for this feature, so I lost hope for that.
So I’m thinking of moving to the alternative. Anything works like vaultwarden plus this feature would be nice. Any recommendations? Thanks
Autofill on the host level only works if the OS and apps support it. I don’t think there is a password auto-fill protocol for Linux. Autofill on OS level exists on Android (and maybe IOS? idk, don’t use that trash) but I haven’t seen it anywhere on a desktop. The best I’ve seen is automatic focus change and keyboard emulation to type the password.

Keepass that it is mentioned was like auto-type not what browser extension does.
This could inherently create some security issues I guess, so maybe this is why it is not there.
Unless the app can support it, which means that it would be easier to make it work for windows, Mac and then linux, or if the app is electron based maybe.
Just thinking out loudI remember keepass having something like that but it could be inconsistent. That was over a decade ago though. While not necessary, I agree it would be nice to hit a hotkey and autofill in the OS.
1pass has a feature where you can hit a hotkey and it brings up a small app window that I can can autofill anywhere. But you still need to do a search.
