I’m not convinced having a specific ruling targeting just tiktok would be a good move. I think I understand and side with all the reasons they are doing it: be it privacy, security and more. But they should not uniquely apply to tiktok, but to all apps. If suddenly there’s a Russian app, or a Nigerian app or a swiss app, any which for whatever reasons has security and privacy concerns, they should all be held to the same standards. Me no like double standards.

TikTok ban is a political move. TikTok sends a message to China and protects Israel in one swoop. It has nothing to do with security or privacy of the American people. Biden thought TikTok was disposable collateral. They provided not one ounce of evidence that TikTok is used by the CCP to collect information on Americans. Much less the logic or evidence as to the value to the Chinese having American data when they got 1.4 billion people of their own. You need to learn politics. Biden got cold feet because he is worried about his legacy.

There’s plenty of american companies willing to sell sensitive data to anyone with money to buy. We need an overhaul of data privacy and all this focus on singular companies is missing the forest for the trees.
