So what that Amazon is removing the ability to download and transfer books via USB? It doesn’t affect me because I download my books via wifi…or so the argument goes.

Mark my words: Kindle books that you purchase in the Amazon ecosystem will eventually roll into a subscription model where you pay perpetually for Amazon to store your purchases. Call it KC-SaaS (Kindle Cloud-Storage as a Service).
