Israel says it is cutting off its electricity supply to Gaza. The full effects of that are not immediately clear, but the territory’s desalination plants receive power for producing drinking water.
Sunday’s announcement comes a week after Israel cut off all supplies of goods to the territory to over 2 million people. It has sought to press Hamas to accept an extension of the first phase of their ceasefire. That phase ended last weekend. Israel wants Hamas to release half of the remaining hostages in return for a promise to negotiate a lasting truce.
Hamas has pressed to start negotiations on the ceasefire’s more difficult second phase instead, which would see the release of remaining hostages from Gaza, the withdrawal of Israeli forces and a lasting peace. Hamas is believed to have 24 living hostages and the bodies of 35 others.
So after Israel kills the last Palestinian- who’s next on their list?
it’s not like they’ll face any consequences for this genocide, so why not kick off another?!
Plenty of other Arab countries to choose from. Stay tuned!
No matter which side you take in this conflict one thing is clear - the incompetence of Israel and IDF is staggering.
It’s intentional.
I’m surprised that the Palestinians, who have been mortal enemies of the Israelis for millennia, depend on Israel for electricity with no back up plan. And I’m surprised that anyone thinks Israel is obligated to provide that for them. I get that innocent people will die, and that’s a tragedy. I don’t think it’s good for Israel to cut off electricity. But Gaza knew that they depend on Israel for vital services before they attacked Israel. So Gaza really brought this tragedy on themselves. Fuck around, find out.
Israel doesn’t allow Palestinians to have their own electrical grid or potable water service. Israel controls everything in the West Bank and Gaza.
They don’t let them have an airport either. They bombed it even before the 7th oct.
Dammit Biden, how can you let this happen!?
What are you trying to accomplish?
Yet another reminder that if a god does exist, they’re the type who likes burning ants with a magnifying glass.
I have serious theories on this that I think other cultures have tried to tackle.
I’ll never understand the anti-theist obsession with religion. They survey everything before them, scanning for signs of faith like a hawk searching for mice.
For me, one of the best things about atheism is I can automatically depreciate the significance of all that dumb shit.
Because it’s a blight on society, and it cripples people’s ability to think critically.
We are living in the results of a society founded on and formed by Christianity. It’s bad.
I actually disagree. I think most people who share your view of religion come at it from a fundamental point of misunderstanding.
Don’t get me wrong, most devout followers of religions also have fundamental misunderstandings. People like you tend to be unwilling to learn though and immediately jump to trying to invalidate the experiences and reasonings of others.
I’d say it’s coming from a position of fear more than anything else. You’re afraid of what you don’t know and rather than admit you could be wrong about something, you double-down and cover your ears. It’s an easy response to have. It’s harder to open your mind and accept that the people you disagree with might know more about something than you do.
Its the “chosen by god to save your souls” fervor probably, which gives the licence to fuck everybody’s lives.
This is an extraordinarily useful reply.
Thank you for that.
So like the god of the bible then?
No no, that’s the one with sending bears to maul children for… calling a bald guy “bald”.
And the one that sends gay people and the people that shop on sundays to hell and sees both as sins as bad as each other but has no problem with slavery.
