How much electricity do you think that train network is wasting for all the displays run off Windows rather than a lightweight embedded Linux. Some tests I was watching recently showed the RaspberryPi5 used 6-9W at idle compared to 20-25W for the bare minimum Wintel system, and even a Pi5 is massively overkill for a train departure display. Do they run all the displays in the station off the same system, or is it 20W+ excess per display.
You’re right ofc, but to be honest, Deutsche Bahn has bigger problems than how much energy their displays use xd
The screen probably uses more power than the computer itself
While likely, yes, that doesn’t excuse wasting power for no reason.
