By doing this, they’ve also ironically managed to disprove their own point of supposedly only enforcing the rules. Bit of a shame, as the idea of the community seemed nice, but I thought the mod was really out of line there.
Oh well, you better believe I’ll be back downvoting in 74 years!

You weren’t subscribed to the community because prior to your ban, I did a search for your username—didn’t find you on the subscription list. Furthermore, that thread was the first time you ever upvoted or downvoted any topic there.
Since you were not a member of the community, and since your only participation occurred in that thread—concurrent with other votes in quick succession—it is reasonable to assume that you were brigading.
Lemmy is still small and has a lot of small instances, a good number of us use All and not subscribe to every community. There are like 5 gaming communities that pop up on All, daily.
Nothing OP said was uncivil, they didn’t call anyone names, they didn’t troll or act like a dick. Having a different opinion of someone isn’t being uncivil.
You clearly have the same mindset as other reddit mods do and you really shouldn’t hold any mod positions if this is how you act with different opinions.
That community is incredibly small. I am the only active poster there. That post was already several hours old, and suddenly 10 downvotes come in quick succession? And none of them from members of the community? Yeah, that looks like a brigade to me.
As for the OP—I’d say accusing me of advertising is pretty damn uncivil. And not someone I want participating.
If you don’t want people to interact with your content, go make a WordPress blog or something.
You posted something unpopular enough that 10 different people down voted it, just take the L.
Subscriptions don’t always federate fast or correctly. (You can find many people with the same issue here) For many communities it still shows “Subscribe pending” for me, despite getting the content in my subscribe feed. No, I hadn’t participated yet - the community is barely 2 weeks old.
If you’re saying you weren’t part of the brigade but just so happened to subscribe—but it did not federate—and downvote at an inopportune time, while a brigade was ongoing, that might be possible. I’m skeptical, but it’s possible.
However, your immediate recourse was to create this thread instead of DM and iron out a potential misunderstanding.
That’s really unfortunate.
As I wrote on another comment, you didn’t DM me either, but permabanned me over 2 votes. Your ban message “Don’t want you in the community” also didn’t give any indication that you assumed I was part of a coordinated brigading attack. Instead, it very much read to me like you were just annoyed at having been downvoted.
Well, I probably could have given a more detailed reason. I will own that.
I will also unban you because you seem genuine and not malicious.
lol who cares? ban everyone at this point.
This is completely unhinged. Touch grass.

I stumbled on this post browsing all and had no skin in the game but downvoted only you for being insufferable, maybe people really just don’t like the way you converse and find it patronizing and presumptuous.
That’s some top tier insufferable pettiness.
So basically anyone looking through all posts is not allowed to contribute or vote before they follow.
Great.
lmao what
