Some trademark crossover (thrash metal meets punk), also the same vocalist! He was originally from this band. It might show how they are more interlinked then it seems. Any of that band’s later releases are still crossover, but more metal infused, if you still struggle to hear the connection.
If you need any more advice or want to explore the genre further, myself and a few others are pretty well versed in this stuff. Feel free to pop a question in the community, we are pretty active and have made daily posts for years, so plenty to sink your teeth into 🤘.
If this is considered trashmetal/punk I might need to revise my prejudice.
I associate ‘-metal’ with certain mannerisms, often most expressed in the vocals, that I simply hate. Maybe a particular type of growling, but it goes further than that.
There’s one or two albums I like that would probably be ‘-metal’ if they had a different singer.
Yeah you can pretty much find any kind of vocals in metal. Even within thrash metal tbh. It’s also thrash not trash btw (I don’t mean this in a passive aggressive way btw).
Yeah it’s just a minor thing really, didn’t really feel the need/desire to correct you, however I recognise if no one ever corrected anyone, we wouldn’t learn much haha.
Take a listen to this…

oops. That’s different. No offense taken though; considering the comparison to punk I feel entitled to having made that mistake.
