If you dont have kids or strangers around, you can keep things like pistols on wall racks, loaded and ready to go. I for example, live way out in the sticks. If I call the cops, it takes a minimum of 20 minutes before anyone gets here. My nearest neighbors are also a couple miles away. So, if someone breaks in I have a 20 minute window with zero help. Call 911, then call .357
