Don’t know the situation in america so what you say may be true, but on some countries (developing ones where the power of the state is diminished) water is not free for everybody else, but multinational corporations get almost unlimited use concessions for their bottlers for a laughably low fee if any, drying out the area and sometimes literally leaving towns or regions with no public water left for other uses, forcing the people to have to pay for other sources. I don’t live in a place in that situation yet, but some other regions in my country are going exactly through that. In some cases, those beverages are for the american market.

  • I’m in the same situation. What has worked for me to make me engage more is the opposite, I subscribed to a bunch of smaller communities about my interests and then I feel more compelled to comment something on a post that I know about.

Sometimes there’s not much conversation happening but at least I’m providing what I know or my opinion, and ‘rewarding’ the poster for providing interesting content, even if that has not much quantifiable value for them.

I also switched my default feed to my subscriptions instead of All, that way I see less active posts instead of the super popular ones where everything has already been said hours ago.

  • Let this be the regular reminder that any time that a gigantic for profit corporation seems to be doing the right thing it’s a mere coincidence and they are following their bottom line. The moment those two depart, they will look after their bottom line right thing be damned. There are no moral corporations.

Maybe those good things they do while are convenient to them are moral and bring real benefits and can be followed and celebrated, but ultimately they are a convenient mask to trick customers. So don’t ever be loyal to a brand, be loyal to principles.
