Welcome here, first time I see your instance, seems nice
Good question, and interesting answers
Also small opportunity to promote !showsandmovies@lemm.ee
There’s no way to contest modlog actions within the modlog, and the maturity of the people has been proven to be very, very questionable when they’ve been outed. It has also adopted reddit’s policy of obfuscating the moderator performing an action even though creating an alt is easier than ever and many of them already have them, which works against the supposed commitment to transparency.
!yepowertrippinbastards@lemmy.dbzer0.com helps a bit with that
There also used to be a relatively active sci-fi community but then some drama happened and it died down a lot.
Interesting, is it documented somewhere?
https://lemmyverse.net/communities allows to search for the most active communities
!europe@feddit.org is another example of community which is the established one for a topic
That one is mentioned in the post
I’m not an admin
Good point, I could probably emphasize that a bit more.
https://www.lemmyapps.com/, it’s mentioned in the post
I would say it’s still worth reporting. I don’t follow news or politics very closely, but having propaganda reported is always useful.
I suspect this is a major reason why lemmy isn’t more popular and growth has stalled. The core users are free software true believers and Marxist fundamentalists and want to stay among themselves.
I don’t think so. I’ve contacted a few mods from different subreddits to ask to create one post to talk about Lemmy, and how it could be an alternative to Reddit enshittification, all of them have been negative.
People are not magically going to learn about Lemmy if the platform which is the most similar does not allow to talk about it: https://sopuli.xyz/post/17981609
Aside from the currently low number of users, the fact that you can have the same community in different instances means a community will never grow large enough.
Isn’t !piracy@lemmy.dbzer0.com an example of a community which grew large enough to become the reference?
Feel free to report such behavior on !meanwhileongrad@sh.itjust.works
I’m not
!movies@lemm.ee is more active than !movies@lemmy.world in monthly active users.
Same for !showsandmovies@lemm.ee and !television@lemmy.world, which also doesn’t have any moderator besides bot accounts.
!piracy@lemmy.dbzer0.com definitely outclasses any other piracy community
!greentext@sh.itjust.works is the most active for green text
!map_enthusiasts@sopuli.xyz is the best community for maps
About mods power tripping, you can have a look at !yepowertrippinbastards@lemmy.dbzer0.com . I reported there an example which shows that you can create a better community over a power tripping mod.
You’re correct
Also it feels relatively empty even though there’s data to back there being half a million users.
45k monthly active users
Feel free to report it on !yepowertrippinbastards@lemmy.dbzer0.com
It displays on the Lemmy web UI. What interface do you use?
I even use the Lemmy default UI on phone and don’t have any issues with that, but I’ve seen people to whom having a dedicated app was very important.
The English for “ananas” is “pineapple”, did the English really think they grew on pine trees?
