iirc it can potentially make sense in the event that our universe turns out to be simulated and subject to floating point errors.

Yeh but that guy wasn’t even in charge when that project was laid out and he got a massive golden parachute. Paid sacrafical lamb for PR purposes.
Think of it as a win win. If a company you hate does well then you get consolation money. If it does badly then thats nice too.
Earths biosphere was originally anerobic, the evolution of photosynthesis pretty much wiped out all life that existed at the time (though it was all bacteria at that point).
Big talk coming from the branch of life that wiped out 99% of the anerobic biosphere.
afaik even those terms would be unenforcable if you can only see the TOS after buying the product, which would be the case here.
Does this mean there’s also a way to independantly change voice volume and everythign else volume within the app rather than having to re-do it in windows volume mixer every time I start my PC?
Honestly discords UI is pretty good its just weirdly missing some features entierly.
100% iirc, there are only so many ways to write about how the blue curtains indicate the character is feeling depressed or something.
With how high housing prices are I’m starting to wonder if the whole stigma was dreamed up by real estate companies to increase demand. Wouldn’t be the first time a whole cultural norm was created for profit.
IIRC the bigger issue is that the nanobots would end up just melting themselves, to avoid this they’d have to work a lot slower, probably at about the rate of a particularly fast acting bacteria.
In a lot of places we don’t even use real asphalt, don’t need to wait til winter because the damn rain washes out all the patches and then goes back to making things worse.
Honestly this one is for our benefit, A lot of stuff thats free and universally compatable (like email) is that way because the ancient sages who forged the internet built the protocols for that shit into its very backbone so no one could fuck it up later (wether by incredible forsight or lazy implementation who knows). The day someone at google re-discovers/deciphers how all that shit works at once is the day a lot of stuff we don’t even think about suddenly turns into walled gardens.
To be clear despite some dramatic word choice its not like lost knowledge or anything but its obscure enough that no single person likely has all the pieces to safely make any signfiicant changes.
IIRC there are these really durable laptops with solar pannels built into the lid that are made specifically to bring internet to people in third world countries. They’re naturally rather underpowered but you could still put a high capacity SSD in one and it’d be less likely to break than a smartphone.
Sounds easier to fit in your pocket than a 2 ton vehicle. Cars are only seen as convenient due to their ubiquity.
My personal issue with github is more the placement of the actual download links, sometimes its harder to find than the real download button on a dodgy pirate site without ad-block.
Its an electric car thing, they have much higher acceleration than most people are used to so people crash them like this.
“Stealing, theft, is predicated on taking something from someone so they no longer have it.”
So if I purchase a product and then its taken away due to service closure or ‘updated’ to be so different as to no longer be recognisable that would be theft surely.
To be fair only because pistols at the time were so innacurate that even the worlds best shot wouldn’t have been able to garauntee a hit. Modern pistols would be a different story.
Lets not forget the debacle where a third party company designed a cheap and permament fix for the ice cream machines and mcdonalds responded by comiting libel against that company. The company that makes the ice cream machine then outright stole their IP (found to have outright copy pasted code with comments and all) and briefly sold it as their own fix before I belive discontinuing it.
Kind of like the ice cream machine fix version of ‘embrace, extend, extinguish’ but with all the finesse of beating someone up in an alley.
