Seeing many comments here shitting on this decision by google, is this really that big of a deal? I’ve personally never used the cached feature of Google and if I ever needed to see a page that is currently down, it’d be via wayback machine. If nobody used the feature, why have it waste a ton worth of storage space? Feel free to prove me wrong though.
Me, suddenly having an urge to learn Shogi one day
Thanks for the correction, I’ve removed the section from my comment.
I’ve been playing League casually from time to time on Linux, and it’s just a shame that they’re adding Vanguard to the game since that kills any compatibility it had under wine. Though, knowing League community, a lot of players on Linux are so addicted to the game, they’ll switch their operating systems for it or buy a second computer just to play.
The words have already left your mouth
Especially since they’re such good size and all
It depends what worth entails - if it’s just the monetary value then yeah they’re the same, but if the worth also comes from desirability and convenience, then infinite stack of 100 dollar bills would be way more desirable when compared to 1 dollar bills.
Less space needed to carry the money around (assuming it’s stored in some negative space and you just grab a bunch of bills when you wanna buy something), faster to take the bills for higher value items and easier to count as well.
USA spreading freedom and democracy by couping various democratic countries and replacing the democratically elected leaders with fascists and warlords
I’d imagine a lot of people who were affected negatively by 1 child policy being absolutely pissed at seeing the government suddenly go “we miscalculated, pls start breeding like rabbits”
I didn’t use reddit that much before switching to lemmy (only browsing a couple of niche subreddits that I liked), but in general I do like people here a bit more. At least in my experience, I saw more people here willing to have discussions when compared to reddit, which is something I do enjoy from time to time.
That being said, I must agree with a lot of commenters in this thread - there is a lot of propaganda on this platform and that’s a part of lemmy that I have the biggest gripes with.
Remember when they would arrest people who criticized the monarchy after the queen of england died in the UK? Someone even got arrested for holding an empty sign because they feared that something bad could be written on it in the future.
It’s a free country, as long as you’re a conservative.
No, and once I became aware of the fact realized that I was kinda screwed when it came to video games.
Every single video game I have purchased is on Steam, and considering its DRM and licence business model, I had multiple conversations with my friends who also had the same worry and wondered what would happen if Steam shut down one day. Valve did state that they’ll remove the DRM if the platform shut down, but there’s no way of knowing the future as million things can happen and for all we know, they might change their minds or not be in a position to remove the DRM once the time came.
IQ score is a sham - the tests are quite fallible, and historically they were used as a justification to discriminate against people who are poorer or with worse access to education. Nowadays, I see it quite a lot in the context of eugenics, where some professors and philosophers attribute poor people being poor due to their low intelligence (low IQ score), and that they can’t be helped while rich people got where they are due to their intelligence (as in they have a high IQ score on average).
Shy bladder syndrome - I can only take go on a toilet and do my business at my own home while no one else is nearby, and this makes it very hard whenever I get hospitalized, have to stay somewhere overnight (thankfully never happened), or being in school/work as I can never use the toilet once the need arises - gotta wait until I’m back home for that.
The worst it had affected me was at a hospital once where it took me around 2-3 days to be able to finally start urinating there after countless attempts over the time period, and 2 weeks to be able to take a shit. It’s no fun.
And how do you do something “practical” about it, with any ideology and not just anarchism? Becoming radicalized and aware of surrounding ideology doesn’t suddenly make you able to throw everything away, it doesn’t eliminate your need for food and roof over the head which is something you need money and a job for.
Used to like old MoistCritical, now it’s all just drama, stream reactions and an occasional sex toy video. Also took up a gambling site sponsorship for one of the podcast episodes, so I stopped watching him and haven’t seen the channel in like a year. Maybe he has changed though in that time.
There’s this saying about how if something is punishable by a fine, then it’s only illegal for poor people.
I don’t even have to finish this do I
His money could be used to fix so many issues en masse. It’s disgusting that he chooses not to do so every day.
Pretty sure he posted on twitter a couple years ago about how if someone credible provided a plan to solve world hunger for 6 billion dollars, he would sell Tesla stock and just do it, to which the UN responded with a detailed plan. However, Musk pretty much ignored them, no acknowledgment (as far as I know) and no money donated.
Using the money to fix issues in the world and making it a better place is not a part of his politics.
Old School Runescape - an amazing game with so much content and depth in the end-game, as well as great experience in early-to-mid-game. However, the game is insanely grindy and it sometimes feels unbearable to actively train a skill for 20 hours straight in order to do a single task, or to go unlucky on a boss and spend 50 hours killing it over and over just to not get what you wanted. It does feel really good when you do finish a difficult grind, though.
