As a tech nerd who self hosts stuff, I’m more like “what is IPV6 and why is it causing me issues, I can’t figure this out, I guess I’ll disable it, wow my problems are fixed now.”

I guess I can see why people don’t like it, as it’s caused me issues, but just because I don’t understand it doesn’t mean it’s dumb. I’d need to understand how it works before I could say anything about it, positive or negative. I guess all I could say is that it’s been way less intuitive to me, I can’t memorize the numbers, and the reason it exists makes sense. Beyond that, I unno.

I should probably spend the time to learn about it, but I already have a full time job where I work on computers all day, I’d rather focus on my other hobbies while I’m at home.

Someone will think you’re more refined if you don’t watch a YouTube ad though, whether it’s through ad blocker or premium, that’s the comparison you should be making.

Can’t wait for Grayjay to finish their desktop client. I also hope they add better functionality to sponsor block, akin to the desktop or revanced experience.

Honestly, the second biggest issue, after the lack of desktop client, is that it doesn’t completely solve the problem. I’ll still have to use Dropout’s, Motor Trend on Demand’s (now integrated into Discovery+), and other’s streaming service apps, instead of having it all in one place.

That said, I’m not sure if Grayjay wants or intends to implement services that are more like a Netflix, where you’d be following shows instead of creators, considering their mission statement is to follow creators.

I really want Dropout’s stuff, Roadkill, and Hot Rod Garage in Grayjay so I can simply add the videos to my watch later. For a show like Breaking Bad or something, I don’t think I’d want that in GrayJay, but I suppose it’d be good to have options.

I think kinda everyone did. I never loved the guy, I got weird vibes and thought he was majorly overrated, but I thought he was fine, and I respected the work he’d attached his name to.

Hell, I still respect the hell out of starlink, as someone who had dial-up or old style sattelite with 15GB/mo limits until I moved out of my parents house 6 years ago. That shit’s cool as hell, I would’ve killed for it as a kid, and my dad did shell out for it when it became available.

I don’t really attribute anything cool that’s come out of Elon’s companies to him any more though, in my mind all the credit goes to the talented leaders and engineers that are “under” him. There is something to be said about bankrolling these things, I suppose, but I don’t think it’s as noble a mission as we all once thought. He just wants to be liked by people and make money.

I still struggle to read personal computer and not think of any phone, laptop, etc as a PC. Hell, a calculator is a rudementary PC.

I see these posts all the time and I never understand what your motivation is or what the comics mean, so maybe this is a complete wooosh on my part, but let me explain.

The comic in the comment I’m replying to comes first. The cat is wearing the bro apron thing and the fish parrot bro. In the comic in the post the fish are saying bra instead of bro. Some woman walked past the tank in a bra I guess

However bras don’t say “BRA” across the chest, so it still doesn’t even make sense in the context of these fish parroting things they see on peoples’ chests.

Edit: I have done research. I now find these posts hilarious. I’m thinking I was definitely a bit wooshed but also am correct about the “joke.”

Are they actually that bad still? My OnePlus Watch 2 lasts multiple days on a charge, and I keep it topped off just by charging while I shower every 1-3 days. I don’t even worry about it on my frequent two night camping trips. I kinda assumed Apple was in the same realm by now.

Battery life, sure, but functionality, nah. Apple is all about appearances, and a black/white screen running at 1fps isn’t a good appearance.

Honestly even I wouldn’t want an e-ink watch when there are other watches out there that get good battery life and have so much more functionality. My OnePlus Watch 2 gets me a few days. I only charge it when I shower and basically never have to worry about battery even on my frequent weekend camping trips.

I’m a 20-30 something (26) and, generally, I think it’s younger people who are starting to struggle with this (<21 maybe?). All of my classmates seemed to be OK at handling files. From what I saw in highschool and college it was more to do with computer hygiene than incapability.
