I thought the same. I assumed it was just people censoring themselves when they wanted to say son of a bitch in front a child, or anyone else who it’s taboo to swear in front of.

This gave me flashbacks to being on Reddit with the cult of Keanu Reeves. I respect the man but if he’s shown too much love puts him in a situation where anything he does will be scrutinised.
The world has been giving them nothing but praise for like 5-6 years now, I think that’s all.
I moved to Bristol, UK around 3 years ago and joined here around 1 year ago. I’ve never been able to tell if the world has just become more pro anarchism / communism or if both Lemmy and Bristol are so strongly intertwined with those mindsets. I’m always amazed by the intense parallels between here and Bristol that I’d never seen between the internet and a physical place before.
I was going to say that although Reddit had a reasonably coherent hive mind, Lemmy is far more similar to eachother in our points of view.
But maybe that’s made more extreme because I’ve blocked so many voices that I don’t agree with, just because I’m not looking to spend my free time debating anymore.
I’d presume they have a few cashiers from the Philippines but at least one person managing the store.
I am pretty sure I’d love tears of the kingdom, I just don’t have a switch.vi played breath of the wild on a friend’s Wii U years ago while living with him, then tried to replay it with an emulator a while later but encountered a few big bugs.
My hope is to just wait 5 years and play a stable emulation of Tears of the Kingdom, or maybe by then I’ll be able to pick that and the console up quick.
I really enjoyed Breath of the Wild although I haven’t tried Tears for the Kingdom. It really suited me but it’s lack of direction is how I play every open world game anyway. I actually can’t go back to other AAA open world games without getting irritated by how hand holding and limiting they are of their own medium, but it wasn’t just breath of the wild that made me realise that.
There was the occasion dark environment on old mario kart games that ticked all these boxes and I never had an issue with.
Although you could travel the land. Perhaps not cross the Sahara but if you lived in the Roman world, you could quite easily take some years to walk off the edge of the map and just explore. There would of course be a good chance of death from illness, animal or person, but equally like today, you may also meet plenty of kind people who would let you stay and maybe even share their knowledge of the area and culture.
I have a PC I built that was absolutely top of the line 9½ years ago, that still plays most games in high to max settings. It’s a little powerhouse for its age, I often use it for rendering video and it still smokes everybody I know 's devices.
Windows 11 is too powerful for my PC according to Microsoft and I’ve been so pleased about that. If it wasn’t for the fact that I have no issues with my current windows 10 setup, I’d put in some time to jump to Linux. I’m just too lazy to give it the weekend it would take to learn, set up and move my content over properly.
I love sync and it’s been my go to app for a decade across reddit and Lemmy, but I find it’s advertising and pro features far more frustrating now than ever before.
The dev also takes long breaks but I don’t mind this as his work while he’s active is really really good and fast.
If you already use revanced manager for YouTube or other apps, there is an ad free patch for an older version of sync which has an easy APK to seek out, which is recommend.
Mad max without mad max but you gotta get the branding.
Yeah as a doctor with a PHD in this exact topic and a huge dick, it’s not really in my interests to misrepresent myself.
I also assumed the swooper still decelerates you a little even if not by much. If you’re falling at 50m/s as you are trying to slow your fall by taking a skydiver pose, and a superhero caches you midair, you could decelerate over half a second and stop moving within 12 meters while still only experiencing 10g.
12m is pretty tall but not insane in a superhero style piece of fiction where people may be dropped out the sky or from tall buildings. If you want to increase that g-force to the maximum survivable limit of near 100g (in theory), you’d only need to go from terminal velocity to 0m/s in 1.5 meters. Being reasonable, being caught 5 meters above the ground would be enough for most people to survive without major reprocussions, and is always better than hitting the ground.
A popular suggestion has been to implement the ability for communities across instances to ‘subscribe’ to eachother, which puts the networking of these communities in the hands of the moderators of that community.
I want that feature above all else.
It’s a shame cities skylines 2 doesn’t run on many PCs, or even that the first one became so DLC heavy because watching SimCity implode under EA’s bullshit just for an amazing successor to take to the field was amazing.
I’m very excited for the successor to the Sims but I’ve been waiting for it a scarily long time without any major promising news.
I used sync since it’s inception on Reddit and it’s still my favourite, I’ve tried 5 different apps for Lemmy but Sync is still my preference. I haven’t paid to block ads but I don’t get ads anyway so I just get a panel of empty space in it’s place.
The app is missing a few QoL features however. It’s basically a carbon copy of how it was for Reddit this time last year with all the Lemmy unique functions being on the backend. I also don’t expect the dev to return purely because their revenue from the app must be 1000 times smaller than it was from Reddit and they’re probably having to adjust to a very different financial lifestyle. However, despite the monetisation, I do respect the Dev as when they’re active, basically every rational request gets implemented, and you really get the sense that they enjoithe problem solving of making our ideas work.
Although we know the cat got up 5 seconds after the kimono was cut.
The most common cheat is probably gaining money or experience, but there have always been pretty extensive mod menus for GTA Online with tools from invincibility to making your vehicles rainbow, to randomly causing other players to explode or setting hundreds of muggers on them.
In 2015ish, I used to cheat, other than getting rich, all I was interested in doing was making an indestructible chrome bus with smoke trails that I’d drive around picking up players in, to teleport us all to North Yankton and back like a tour guide.
