  • PLEASE give the Steam Deck a try if you haven’t yet and are thinking about a Switch 2.

    I’m definitely* going to purchase a Steam Deck (OLED) very soon. I know it’s a couple of years old but the amount of games being able to play and games being often on sale. Not to forget the Steam Deck (OLED) can emulate a lot of games and also play 🏴‍☠️ games on it.

    I thought about the Switch 2 but the console is already expensive and then the games being each €70, €10 game update and DLCs being €10-30 each is insane. Though, I do realize that it’s probably similar on other consoles (PS5 and Xbox). Might be just spoiled being a PC gamer?

  • You don’t need to be tech-savvy to use a social media.

    You are entirely right when it is about centralized social media (Facebook, Instagram, Reddit, Twitter and the likes).

    However, for example; Lemmy and Mastodon you at least need to be a bit tech-savvy.

    • Making account is different but then you get;
    1. The multiple instances.
    2. Multiple communities that are the same name.
    3. What is exactly decentralization.
    4. Federation.
    5. Difference instances can give different results (blocking, rules, and what you can and cannot see from other instances).
    6. How Moderation works is different than the usual platforms.
    7. Community discovery is different. Searching for something can be quite difficult on Lemmy.
    8. Lemmy’s community has a lot of tech-jargon which non-tech savvy people might find difficult to wrap their head around.
    9. How the banning system works on Lemmy is different than the usual platforms as well.

  • Man, I tell you, Apple service is really great (unless I was unlucky and lucky at the same time?).

    I had like 4-5 times the cracking issue and each time they changed them for free even out of warranty. The employee told me something along lines of “you have the issue and so we will replace the AirPods Pro besides, there’s a law that a company needs to give a ‘decent product’ to its costumer. Even if out of warranty”.

    Personally, I think the person stretched that rule far since it was out of warranty for like a year or one and a half year already. Still thankful.
