A few free games as in games I actually want to play. Claiming freebies makes you access their eco system which makes you a customer whether you spend money or not.

I actively avoid it on principle. Same with EA, Ubisoft, and Activision. Buy stuff that aligns with your values and don’t cave just because we need to try the shiny new thing.
A few free games every year isn’t enough to get me to forgo any of that.
Rock and Stone!
Instead of getting all conflicted about what you are seeing just enjoy the view. Really don’t understand the need to know the “what” part of your post.
Did it ever occur to you that the writers of that show saw the horrors and apathy of the world and tried to shape a generation. The goal wasn’t to teach us how to exist in the world we have but to create a more wholesome one.
Why the extra snark? This person is asking a question. Easy to argue that he is trying to learn more about networking, why ostracize?
People down voting have no idea what I meant
These kernal level anti-cheats are absurd. Played valorent on launch and had to reinstall windows after I did more research on the “Vanguard.”
Well can’t really do much about this one…adding DRM 10 years later is, as far as I know, unprecedented. They would have got me in this case if I bought the game. Not going to delay a purchase if all other requirements are met on a “what if.”
I simply do not buy games with this type of DRM (Denuvo, etc). Full stop. I know hearing this gets old, but vote with your money.
I have not bought an ubisoft, ea, Activision, or game with DRM in at least a decade; save for a few small exceptions (diablo, wow). Me doing this alone obviously has no impact, however if we all started to do this it would make a dent in the only language these companies communicate in: the bottom line.
At that point they would need to begin weighing profits losses to piracy versus profits lost to DRM.
Yeah fair enough. I’d have to assume folks who spend time making malware want a return on their investment, whether financial or status / fame. Not a big ROI on hacking my gaming desktop or a thinkpad I use to stream movies.
Maybe 4% desktop market share. You are not including Linux market share of servers; this would be a more worthwhile target.
Yup why both both
And I’m on matrix too, but I’m just an individual. If I were trying to advertise my project I’d probably use discord / reddit as well tbh
Matrix is cool but its user base is not there yet.
Add another reason to the pile in favor of giving up or significantly reducing meat consumption.
Yeah and if you don’t have similar principals to mine it’ll continue to feel like a sacrifice that may or may not be worth pursuing.
Truthfully I don’t feel like I’m missing out at all. Those developers have been pumping out trash for years.
