Every layer of the American medical system is bullshit.
I don’t see anything wrong with serialized media, the problem is people are not also taking chances on more novel stuff. Even when it gets made. “Moon” came out fifteen years ago and I thought it was really good but damn near every time I bring it up I’m the only one who even heard about it. “Knives Out” was great, “Glass Onion” was alright, we get weird stuff like “Pig” and “The Menu” and that’s all stuff with big names and decent budgets. There’s tons of smaller stuff coming out too but if you don’t pay attention or seek out film festivals, or know someone who does, it might as well not exist.
Are theaters just too expensive for casual audiences? Is the opportunity cost too high? Or is it just a marketing failure?
The 80s is too old? I understand not enjoying the style of the Golden Age of Hollywood, but what about movies like Back to the Future or Full Metal Jacket or The Princess Bride puts you off?
Those would be far more expensive to produce, needing specific skilled craftsmen. Not that glass production is easy, but compared to hand-carved wood and stone the labor hours alone is a staggering difference.
Couldn’t pay me to live that far from an ocean. Or good internet.
Plus, it’s Wyoming. Famously the least densely populated state. That comes with some associated costs.
Gaming is the primary driver behind my PC choices by a humongous margin. I’m not really concerned about imvasive anti-cheat software, I don’t want to tinker with settings, I want to turn on my computer and play video games. That means I use Windows.
If it helps, I got the joke straight away.
Fairly clever, more bold than the average crow. Not as aggressive as gulls but yes they’ll try to steal from people.
As with most of this country’s problems, our particular flavor of Christianity (Puritans and Protestants) has lead to a culture where you have to earn things instead of everyone benefitting from a well-educated, healthy society.
They don’t care about life on Earth, they’re preoccupied with Heaven.
The math checks out.
Shit interface then. Pressing down on my volume knob pauses it, and I’ve got media controls on the steering wheel as well so I can change tracks with my left thumb keeping both hands on the wheel.
I thought we left the insufferable Internet Italians back on reddit.
Word meanings shift over 500 years, nobody is using “entree” wrong because it means different things in different cultures and has changed several times over the centuries. The way we serve and eat meals has also changed considerably.

I like this write-up, it had plenty of historical examples.
Witcher 1 best lore and most “witchery” in that planning and hunting monsters was more of a thing. Witcher 2 was great but too short and abandoned some of what made the first interesting. 3 is a totally different game with plenty of merit but it’s weird how disconnected the games feel.
Kinda like Mass Effect, honestly.
Witcher 1 did want to be more meticulous. Researching the monsters, making specific potions or coatings, using the right weapons and juggling fighting styles, collecting sexy lady cards, balancing swordplay with signs, navigating political choices thay would be completely abandoned in the sequels…
Our gel electrophoresis machine was black, and many weeks of work lived or died by that magic box.
“A version of” does not inspire confidence in me. I like Salt & Straw, it’s good ice cream. The Choco Taco was not good ice cream. It was a stale sort-of-waffle-cone shell, acceptable vanilla ice cream with fudge swirl, dipped in cheap chocolate with chopped peanuts. And they were perfect. This new thing will probably cost eight dollars and taste great but it will not fill the nostalgic space or my freezer.
