There is more to it than though, that’s why being able to explore profiles is important. You can see the questions they answered and how which allows you to make decisions and inferences. Sure it had flaws, but it was leaps and bounds better than anything today including it’s own current iteration. The closest is probably Hinge, but even that is Tinderfied.
Been using OkC for almost that long on and off now. The quizzes and questions still exist, but they have been tokenized since OkC now shows you people the same way Tinder does and doesn’t have any ability to explore people and profiles the way you used to be able to back in the date. It’s so frustrating!
I was able to get RCS working again yesterday by updating to the latest version of Play Integrity Fix, but if that hadn’t worked, I would have disabled it and then probably switched over to Textra or Yatta for texting since RCS is basically the only thing keeping me on messages for texting.

It doesn’t seem to me like the increased performance of phones has had much effect on the actual experience for a while if gaming or content creation is not done on the phone. As a daily driver I think this phone will last me a while.
Researching anything that happened on the internet right now in the future is going to be absolute hell considering how much useful user information and interactions are “locked” behind Discord. Is there a term for something worse than link rot? With link rot it’s a case of a known unknown. With information on Discord it’s an unknown unknown.
There are still base features of BB10 that are not native on iOS or Android (I have the former for work and the latter for my personal). It probably sounds trivial, but I liked being able to have the phone automatically switch sound profiles bases on stuff in the calendar. Never had to remember to switch my phone to vibrate when going from the factory floor to a meeting.
Yeah, I was taught using NX and coincidentally also use it at my current job, but I have dabbled in almost all of the other commercially available platforms and so far FreeCAD took the longest for me to “pickup” as it were.
It would be really nice to have a parametric 3D modeling software solution that was on the same level as Blender or KiCAD. Every time I try FreeCAD I end up moping out pretty quickly.
Why pay? I think the answer is pretty easy. If one doesn’t want to self host. Running any kind of web based service costs the person running it money. Google obviously makes money off of a user doing searches via adds and data collection. I would actually have no issue paying for certain Google services if it meant that as a paying customer they would not double dip and try and profit off the data they are collecting on me.
This is all coming from a person who has a server rack in my basement and multiple PCs scattered throughout my home, so I am no stranger to self hosting.
Capital One has that capability built in. I have dedicated credit card numbers for just about every service I use.
Tons. A special firmware I use for my 3D printer is supported through Discord. All questions and new firmware links are posted there. Even with Slack being “searchable”, unless I am mistaken, it’s not indexed by search engines, right? So when trying to figure something out I would need to search for webpages and then also search Slack right?
I was specifically referring to the forum like sections. The lack of indexing and internet archive means large swaths of knowledge, timelines, history, and even culture will become dust in the wind.
That shit is the most infuriating thing ever to me. It seems like so many technical discussions and communities are going to Discord now where that information is not indexed or preserved. How many issues have I had where the answer was sitting on a Discord server that will never appear in any general search result?
I have always said if I could re-roll my stats I would trade whatever amount of intelligence I supposedly have to be dumb as a box of fucking rocks with a ludicrous amount of charisma.

That’s where I am at as well. I would be more than happy to pay for YouTube Premium as I recognize it is not an insignificant undertaking, and I even think some of the algorithmic suggestions are good (though an option to turn them off maybe?). If I am paying for the service though then I think I should then become the customer, not the product, and should have some guarantees to that effect.
I’d also like to have a more clear idea of how much the service really costs. If it costs a lot to run, then just price it appropriately. Knock it off with this boil the frog bull shit and raising the cost every year or two.

Not all extensions though. I want to be able to use the User Agent switcher that I use on desktop and when I add that to the extension collection it causes none of the extensions to appear in Firefox mobile.
I think he is close though with his initial train of thought. I remember doing some research on this many years ago and road wear does not scale linearly with weight. All other variables being equal a 1,000lb load going across a stretch of road 10 times does less damage than a 10,000 pounds load going across the same stretch once. So what we should really be doing is looking at semi trucks and the heaviest of consumer vehicles. It would theoretically make consumer goods go up in price a little, but it’s not like that cost isn’t already being paid/subsidized by consumers in other ways.
Maybe it would even push the use of railroads for goods even more than it is used now.
