I’d love to see the original cut, there’s clearly hints that there was more adult humour in there.
Also, if you’re into that kind of thing, I highly recommend the “No Retreat, No Surrender” retrospective documentary.
A middle-aged nerd from the UK. I like films and write about them, sometimes for Film Stories or my blog.
Have a great day.

I don’t mind a turtles film and only saw this one because my youngest son wanted to see it. Totally surprised how much I enjoyed it. Funny, awesome art style and great choice acting. Hoping the next film can match it!
Considering it looked like the red band trailer revealed every kill, it certainly felt like it, I have no interest in this film.
There are two producers, one of which died last year but was involved with this film, have been behind every film including the TV series.
It’s like they’ve been trying to recapture the success of the first film again and again and again.
I mean Wicked Prayer was so bad, I lent out my DVD and never bothered asking for it back!
No worries, I thought it was all going to kick off Reddit style. I hated posting there because someone usually found something negative to say.
It would probably help if I tried spelling it correctly in the first place. 😁
Sorry, autocorrect on the phone strikes again.
It’s been a long time since I watched the theatrical cut of Dark City but IIRC, there’s a narration by Keither Sutherland that explains a lot of the premise.
I think it’s better in the director’s cut which removes this and you discover the story as you watch the film.
That’s a truly great film and I remember all the fuss and censorship when it was first released.
Agreed. As an old school Star Wars fan, Disney, in my opinion, has soured the franchise for me.
Mandalorian started well, but I was bored by the middle of season 2. Boba Fett had a few good moments, but it was such a fan service show, it was irritating to watch and incorporating half a season of Mando into it didn’t help. Obi Wan was a completely pointless story that added nothing to the saga. Again, more fan service of wanting to see Vader and Obi-Wan face off again. Andor was the only show that felt like real Star Wars.
I can’t believe the next film is for The Mandalorian, haven’t we had enough of him already. I was really looking forward to Rogue Squadron, shame it was cancelled.
I’m going to be the weird one and say that I quite enjoyed it. However, I’m waiting for the longer, more violent cut releasing later this year. The film clearly should have more blood and there definitely needs to be more characterisation.
It feels like Netflix wanted a shorter, more sanitised version to speak to a larger audience. Netflix does Star Wars (or A Bug’s Life 😄).
Army of the Dead is Aliens!
As mentioned in the article, no one from the first two seem to be involved with this third film. Is there any form of connection to the other two?
Yeah, Se7en was the first one I remembered. It’s a silly marketing thing that often makes no sense.
The first teaser trailer for Tron: Legacy was revealed at the San Diego Comic Con in 2008. At the end, the title was revealed (excuse the quality, this version of the trailer was never officially released) to be TR2N.
It later transpired that this teaser was a proof of concept test, as Disney had not yet given the project a green light. The trailer was released a year later at the Con and online, but the title had been changed to Tron: Legacy.
Love it! 😆
Ooh. Do the YouTuber restoration thing and burn the rust off with a laser. 😁
I did read that one of the reasons they gave Tron: Legacy the green light was because they had no big sci-fi franchise of their own. Once they bought Lucasfilm, their problems were solved and that’s why the plans for a third Tron film fell apart years ago.
I have high hopes for this film because I love the franchise.
As a UK resident, I only know about these because Bill and Ted used some to repair the phone booth time machine.
Really not interested to be honest. Which is a shame as I used to be a much bigger Star Wars fan.
The last film announcement that really excited me was the Rogue Squadron movie but sadly I think that’s effectively been cancelled.
I read somewhere the other day that things aren’t going well and they’re thinking of rebooting old IPs like The Incredibles.
Is going back to past hits a good idea?
