Starfox never did it for me like Space Harrier. I’m not sure why. The primitive 3D maybe. Space Harrier creature design is just plain bizarre and intriguing.
I love Space Harrier. There are a handful of other third-person, on-rails shooters (Sin and Punishment), but nothing recent that I’m aware of.
Also, Bangai O on Nintendo DS is insanely fun. I can’t think of any other games where slowdown is a necessary mechanic.
Pop quiz: four of the top five most anticipated games are Doom, Gears of War, Perfect Dark, and Assassin’s Creed: what year is it?
I guess it depends on if it is a case of there having had been 97 of 100 ingredients having been naturally derived and now only 91 of those ingredients are such. Which admittedly seems unlikely.
Soju is the same thing as what we used to call “fortified” wine like Great White. It lures you in with 20% alcohol being sneaky enough to not immediately buzz you like liquor which then lowers your guard until suddenly you’re black-out drunk singing 80s Nami songs in the nearest noraebang. OH YEONG WON HAN CHINGU! OH HAENGBOK HAN MAEUM! OH JEUL GEO EUN INSAENG! YEAH!
I can see that, but the plural “ingredients” still makes my gut say it should be fewer.
Have we just forgotten about the word “fewer” entirely at this point?
Nope. And I remember a time when there weren’t any ads. Or images for that matter. And I had to run software in DOS. Things are definitely both better and worse, now.
Ehh. What’s the average age around here? I’m guessing it wasn’t the youth that migrated from Reddit.
Daft Punk weren’t really very good songwriters, but they made up for it by being fantastic producers.
Your average shoebox is 35X23.5X13.5 cm, or 11103.75 cubic centimeters. The density of gold is 19.3 g/cm^3. You can fit 11103.75X19.3 = 214302 grams of gold in a shoebox. One gram of gold right now is $77.78 US. That’s 214302X77.78 = over 16.5 million US. There are things significantly more valuable (but not more fungible) than gold, too. The Pi million pill is completely moot. Or just take both, I guess.
My hometown was in Canada’s top-ten communities in decline for years. These days, it’s got two-thirds the population it used to, the streets are full of deer, and quite a few farmers’ fields have turned into forests. Almost everyone my age that I knew moved away long ago. Going back is always shocking.
I feel like it’s a bit like terminally ill people suddenly finding religion. Parents with autistic children are desperate to find something to blame or believe in for their situation. So, they’ve latched onto this absolute fiction that vaccination can cause autism. Nevermind it was something like a single study done that has since been completely disproved. Notice Nicholas up there has an “older, vaccine injured sibling”.
If they’d just be smart about it. Make the ads in-game. Like a Nike poster on a wall or a can of Pepsi on a table or something. I wouldn’t have a problem with that. Making them the entire focus - however brief - just makes me hate them immeasurably.
Not sure I’d use one of the most iconic sexy lead singers in history as an example. No matter much how much he looks like shit now.
Yep.
Another one of my most popular tracks is an atonal hour-and-twenty-minutes of cubic spline curves, granular synthesis, and other assorted noises I programmed in Csound.
I’m in a similar boat, but I never feel fully satisfied to release a song (probably cuz I am a hobbyist and I suck lol).
There’s never a better time to put yourself out there! I resisted it for twenty years. My most “successful” release is one of my least polished tracks. I recorded it just out of university on a Pentium with a stolen microphone, pirated software, a freebie guitar, and a ZOOM 505. It’s got 4 million listens and is responsible for half my income. By comparison, I’ve released stuff that I think sounds like it was professionally recorded in a studio that no one listens to.
I release everything as “Underwaterbob” - my username. You can find me just about everywhere. If you don’t have a subscription, it’s all on YouTube, too: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCQ_MZ9yX0STsY1l2Ml2zBFw
I make a wide variety of music.
Ahh yes, definitely. I should have said that isn’t strictly a traditional shmup. Bangai O definitely has many elements of shmups, but the level design and many of the mechanics are quite unique to it.
