And that arc flash’s temperature is several times hotter than the surface of the sun. It’s hot enough to instantly vaporize any surrounding metal, meaning that if you manage to survive being near an arc flash, there’s a chance that you’ll end up with tiny metal shards in your lungs, when they cool down after you breathe them in. Arc flashes are scary stuff.

It depends on how clean the local grid is. The incandescents make no sense though - LEDs are so much better. Even if you don’t care about using less energy for environmental reasons, upgrading the lights would save enough money in energy costs to pay back pretty quickly
Haha yep, you caught me. I’m a fan of the unique note feature
And it is easily extensible to YYYY-MM-DDThh:mm:ss to include the time of day

The advice given to me when I went to college was “major in something ‘practical’ and minor in what you love”. I think that was good advice. That way you end up with in-demand skills and a solid fallback, but by doing minors and extra certificates, you get to spend time learning things you’re passionate about, and you can demonstrate to future employers that you are well-rounded and adaptable.

I don’t particularly need another subscription, but it seems like a valuable enough service

I’ll take a look at Nginx proxy manager for domain configuration, like another user in this thread suggested

compostgoblin@slrpnk.netOPto Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Migrate from YunoHost to Docker?English1·6 months agoThank you!
Are there any simple services you’d recommend starting with to get a feel for things? I’ll probably start with AdGuard, unless there’s a better option
And I don’t plan to use both at the same time, so conflicting ports shouldn’t be an issue.
Is the process for configuring your own domain with Docket enough of a pain that I should consider sticking with YunoHost?
compostgoblin@slrpnk.netto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Is marijuana-induced psychosis a real thing or is it just more reefer madness scaremongering?English128·6 months agoIt is pretty much just scaremongering. Marijuana, like any drug, can put a person in a mental state that can serve as a trigger for a psychological condition that someone is prone to, like if someone with a family history of anxiety gets way too uncomfortably high. It’s not necessarily the drug that’s at fault - it’s having a stressful experience of a bad time. I’ve never heard of psychosis induced by cannabis though.
Marijuana is just about the safest drug there is, and I think most people could safely try it with no ill effects.

Having a third weekend day is wonderful, and it really helps with running errands and making appointments. And I have a hard time doing anything for more than 6 hours in a day tops. Unless I’m on my meds, I’ve got about 3 hours of focus before lunch and three after, and that’s it. Which isn’t much of a problem in my current role, where I usually have more time than I need. What I hate the most is the obligation to sit at my desk for 8 hours a day, every day, even when there’s nothing to do

Just for the sake of clarity, there is a difference between jumping above 2C during a year and the long-term average being above 2C, which is what we’re usually talking about when it comes to global warming. This headline, and the 1.5C headlines from 2023, tend to muddy the waters. Shit is bad and getting worse, but it’s not quite as bad as you might think at first glance.
