Really? I go used all the time for electronics. DSLRs and lenses (and flashes and other kit), tablets to 3d print a case for as the home automation panel, etc.
About the only electronics I dont go used are the actual electronics - esp32, sensors, a GPS module, etc.
I should really set a minimum timeframe before purchases though…

HA is pretty much the point - and I can’t see any enterprise running without it. Maybe small, but nothing mid or large size. A sector Proxmox can get into at least in small scale (seeing this now actually), and grow.

Multiple clusters. You dont necessarily want all your nodes on a single cluster, and in the enterprise you often don’t.
Agreed, I’m just saying its likely they’ve got at least decent hardware for a local stable diffusion or similar. I doubt they are using 10yr old machines at home that might struggle.
And to add to the other comment - these are private school kids. The money for hardware was available to them.
At home? If you had an encyclopedia you did that. You may also only have some of an encyclopedia, because they would randomly discount some but not others, or you’d get two random free with an order of one book, etc.
For school and such, you went to the library to use their encyclopedias and other reference materials.
Later on, encarta and other such things on your PC, and maybe some random scientist hosting a page on their subject at their college/university.
Because they did not, and still dont, know the laws associated. And rather than actually consult a lawyer, they became armchair experts.
