I imagine they could if they knew exactly what you did and when, but if it doesn’t get discovered until later and nobody knows what happened, it would probably be a bitch to figure out

Seriously, I ordered a steam controller right before they were discontinued, and got a refund :(
That’s kinda where I was sitting when I got the dlc. I had played thousands of hours and was moving my way into factorio and satisfactory. I bought biotech bc I loved rimworld, but I’ve not even finished an entire playthrough since.
You could certainly make the argument that reddit / Lemmy and anything similar is social media, but the anonymity means you aren’t seeing or competing with people you know.
Idk, maybe I’m just coping, but I’ve never felt the need to do anything performative for the masses of internet strangers - unlike some friends of mine who studiously document anything fun we do for the ever important task of impressing people on Instagram.
Whenever the negative effects of social media come up, it tends to be about people comparing their “boring” lives with the carefully crafted veneer of other people’s lives they see on social media. That doesn’t happen (as much) when you don’t use your identity and you don’t know anybody else on the platform.
Early 20’s here with 65y/o parents 👋
Thinking back to my middle school days, it’s entirely possible there janitor never rollerskated on the roof, the administration had no plans to fire him, but the students were still prowling around threatening violence over it 🤣
I agree that live games are a problem, and helldivers 1 had an offline option, but Helldiver’s 2 being always online is better executed than any other live games I’ve seen. And, their servers have been needed up significantly since Friday.
Can somebody seriously fit that entire thing inside them? That seems like it would cause internal organ damage to genuinely fit it all in :/
“when they think you’re gross”
How can I know if someone thinks I’m gross if I haven’t spoken to them yet? I should just assume I’m gross, always?
It’s ok! Over the years I’ve learned a lot of tricks to help me deal with them, and notice when they’re coming on. They’ve also slowed down in frequency quite a bit as I age.
I doubt it. Migraine specific pain medicine often has caffeine in it. I get ocular migraines every year or so and goodies or Excedrin migraine (just a blend of nsaids, acetaminophen, and caffeine) do a good job
I’ve been to shops that’ll keep keep nicotine concentrate around mix into the liquid if you want. They can also mix the 0mg variant in to reduce nicotine concentration. It’s possible something like that happened.
I live in the middle of a sprawling wind farm. Every direction I turn, I can see wind turbines looking ominously over my neighbor’s houses. It’s awesome, and way more interesting than the hundreds of square miles of corn fields they otherwise occupy.
I’m going to my second session in a few hours :)
After a few years in jobs where violence is expected and treated as “bad ass”, I’m finally seeing how my exposure to it has frayed my sense of self.
Probably because hangover severity increases exponentially as you age. A 16 year old can knock back 20 shots in a night and basically die, but wake up with no hangover.
A 40 year old can drink 3 beers and spend 2 days recovering.
Extreme examples yes, but the younger you are the less you have to worry about hangovers and how to prevent / manage them.
Fair, and that would probably work just fine at my current job, but I was working at a gas station and 19 years old. Very seldom would a gas station manager let an employee leave without feeling very entitled to an explanation.
I once clocked into work, and promptly shit my pants because I trusted a fart.
I immediately called my manager and just said “hey I just shit my pants, I’m going to go home and clean up”
She was so flabbergasted with my direct honesty, it was beautiful. Own it, people! We’ve all done it and the only embarrassing part comes from within!
I think OSINT, Open-source intelligence, would be more akin to trolling on social media. They’re the ones who crawl through Instagram and shit to ID Russian soldiers locations when they post selfies and the likes.
Exactly! My sister worries that she spoils her dog but I explain that animals aren’t children, we aren’t supposed to be raising them into well adjusted people who need to go out on their own into the world. They’re just pets, we keep them for companionship and joy, and giving them simple pleasures and seeing them happy is the point.
