Then yeah, also congrats on not being American.
Then yeah, also congrats on not being American.
Oh, do you happen to have a military? That’s actually a big chunk of the reason Americans have such a high carbon footprint… That and an entire society built around making it almost impossible to live without a car.
“Direct action gets the goods.”
Don’t forget the cost of insurance. That’s the big one. If it stops being possible to insure fossil fuel infrastructure, then investments shift to renewables that can be insured. It’s pretty simple economic math.
Edit: that also works in all levels of the economy. Pipeline constitution vehicle get torched every time there’s a pipeline built? Uninsurable therefore reduce or stop investment. Cas in cities always get flat tires and vandalized? People won’t buy cars they can’t insure.
That’s correct. The reason it was there is that some games were written assuming a specific processor speed. When faster processors came out, the games ran too fast. The turbo button let you play older games on your new computer.
Y’all remember the turbo button?
I remember summers without smoke.
I keep being told that the canals used to freeze over and people would skate on them.
“Should we watch the show in East Coast or West Coast time? Or just watch all the episodes for the whole season without ads as they’re sending them to local stations?”
That’s also my understanding.
In the US it’s really common to have an accelerator.
Also eBikes in the Netherlands don’t have acceleators unless they’re illegally modified.
If I were malicious enough to design the system, I would make it a heartbeat. Skip too many heartbeats and your car bricks. It could be written in to the terms of the loan since companies are using in-car computers for repossession.
“Why is my car bricked?”
“Because you tried to disable our payment verification system.”
“I live in a rural area.”
“You’re like 1% of customers. Your loan contact says you have to drive within cell range once a month. Fuck you, we’re repossessing the car and keeping the money anyway.”
your car is bricked
Agreed. If you try and it fails then you are just building evidence that the system doesn’t work (or works exactly as intended) and needs to be replaced. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with that. If you don’t try then you just have the same worthless system doing the same awful things with no paper trail to show for it.
It’s gas lighting, like a lot of the posts in response. Being socialized as a man sucks. You’re both measured by your partners and expected to not need anyone or express any emotions. So basically you get shit like you described where men end up having no self esteem so they are desperate for women to validate them but they also feel smothered and confused by the completely normal and human need for emotional connection that woman have been allowed to keep.
Patriarchy is a machine that turns normal humans in to abusers, and it takes a lot of work to deprogram from this… Especially when it’s constantly being reinforced all around you (like a lot of the guys who responded).
That kind of looks like a camera artefact from stichting multiple photos together.
People who understand technology know that most of the tremendous benefits of AI will never be possible to realize within the griftocarcy of capitalism. Those who don’t understand technology can’t understand the benefits because the grifters have confused them, and now they think AI is useless garbage because the promise doesn’t meet the reality.
In the first case it’s exactly like cryptography, where we were promised privacy and instead we got DRM and NFTs. In the second, it’s exactly like NFTs because people were promised something really valuable and they just got robbed instead.
Management will regularly pass over the actual useful AI idea because it’s really hard to explain while funding the complete garbage “put AI on it” idea that doesn’t actually help anyone. They do this because management is almost universally not technically competent. So the technically competent workers who absolutely know the potential benefits are still not able to leverage them because management either doesn’t understand or is actively engaging in a grift.
Call me when they go full on 1970’s urban guerilla and start kidnapping and executing oil execs, blowing up pipelines, and robbing banks that fund the industry. I honestly would be amazed if anything less worked.
