  • You’re definitely right how this without proper regulation could get out of hand with unethical individuals trying to edit genes. I’d say from my non-geneticist perspective the line would be “would editing this gene improve the individual’s quality of life or improve their life expectancy”. Operationalizing"quality of life" is obviously crucial here and can’t be defined socially but medically such as “no debilitating pain”.

I do wonder how things like this will impact existing communities of individuals with disabilities. I’d expect it would probably increase discrimination as it will increase the perception of people with disabilities as being “curable” which isn’t always possible or even desirable.

Yeah most reputable assessment developers have long moved away from shit like DiSC and MBTI, they were never grounded in science and just make the average person think ideas like personality are just pure snake oil when they are very complex nuanced topics.

If anyone wants to know about way more valid measures look up HEXACO and take the 60 or 100 item measure if you want to actually get an understanding of your own personality (note anything less than 60 items for a personality test is either not a general test or BS)

  • So I’m a researcher in the field of Organizational Psychology so I have mostly insight on the “leadership part” as opposed to their experience mostly in Human Computer Interface. They aren’t wrong here but the study they conducted seems very basic as well. It’s good that it’s an actual lab experiment but I wouldn’t say it has much generalizablilty to an actual working environment. I’d say they would need to redo the study with conditions of trust building as they are really only indicating that humans are predesposed to make connections with other humans and be able to work with them, which we already know.
