  • I think it’s not feasible to stop or control it, for several reasons -

    1. People are motivated to consume ai porn
    2. There is no barrier to creating it
    3. There is no cost to create it
    4. There are multiple generations of people who have shared the source material needed to create it.

    We joke about rule 34 right, if you can think of it there is porn of it. It’s now pretty straightforward to fulfil the second part of that, irrespective as to the thing you thought of. Those pics of your granddsd in his 20s in a navy uniform? Your high school yearbook picture? Six shots of your younger sister shared by an aunt on Facebook? Those are just as consumable by ai as tay tay is.





  • A fair day’s work = a fair day’s pay

    If you do more work you should get more pay.

    If you do less work you should get less pay.

    If you are paid less for doing the same amount of work, or if you do more work for the same amount of pay, then you’re no longer getting a fair day’s pay for a fair day’s work.

    Wage theft is serious business and it’s kind of insidious.

    “hey I need you to stay on a couple hours after” then you’re paid the same amount as normal - wage theft

    “you can’t leave till the next shift gets here” and you’re not paid for the time you wait - wage theft

    “your wage is 25 an hour, that’s 200 a day, the hours are nine till five but most people do 8 till 6” - wage theft (the actual wage is 20 an hour)

    “if there’s a dine and dash it comes from your paycheck” - wage theft

    “you start at 12.50 an hour then go up to 25 after three months.” then at 2 months 3 weeks “sorry it didn’t work out, goodbye” - wage theft

    Wage thieves usually target people that don’t know they’re being taken advantage of. Often people desparate for work, or not highly skilled, or just naive, or trusting. Hence it is (in my mind) predatory.

    Fwiw time theft is the other side of the coin.



  • Provides safety and rigour for the environments in which people work and provides a professional standard which indicates a person is trained / experienced / aware of the “right” way to do things.

    Like at the very least, sexual health management, consent, grievances, injuries, comprehension of working conditions, rights, copyright, prevention of sexual slavery etc.

    I know it’s onerous but the core of this is the worker and their health right.



  • The two of these things aren’t mutually exclusive to be honest. It’s possible to

    I very much miss places and experiences which don’t exist any more, or have changed as society has changed.

    An example is the way music is consumed. When purchasing physical media it took much more effort, thus you were more invested. You would typically visit a music shop, purchase the album, take it home and listen to it. There would usually be an album liner where you could read the lyrics, see photos of the band (which you’d only otherwise be able to see in magazines) and you felt like you had a direct connection with them.

    The purchase of the physical asset connected you in some way to the artist and made for a type of relationship with the music which is much harder to emulate with streaming services, where the music is free and available immediately.

    As a result, the way I like to discover music is at odds to the way Spotify wants to provide me music. It wants to provide me more of the same, I want to discover things I haven’t heard before.

    That being said, Spotify has given me access to music I didn’t know existed by artists I love but had never heard of till I found them on someone’s random playlist. And it’s perpetually there when I’m driving, exercising and working. It plays for it doesn’t require rhe effort or thought of dubbing tapes or recording from the radio.
