mesa@piefed.socialto Fediverse@lemmy.world•What happened to the fediverse stats here?English7·13 hours agoFedidb should be taken with a grain of salt.
mesa@piefed.socialto Fediverse@lemmy.world•Is there a way I can easily set up my own federated instance for free or no?English7·1 day agoYunohost is pretty easy all things considered.
Most of my services are on the equivalent of a raspberry pi. But it’s not really for scale, just for fun.
It’s been pretty good too. Thanks everyone for making this collection of sites fun and interesting! Fedi is awesome 😎
mesa@piefed.socialto Programmer Humor@programming.dev•Fox news trying to explain github.English39·2 days agoI’m convinced that’s ment to get people riled up.
Damn that’s some spicy takes lol.
mesa@piefed.socialto Technology@lemmy.world•Massive internet outage reported: Google services, Cloudflare, Character.AI among dozens of services impactedEnglish41·2 days agoAt work just about all major services are super slow or down. It’s like cloud strike again.
Oh well I still get paid. But it’s crazy how much centralization affects the world wide web.
All I’ve learned from this tread is that people have some very strange beliefs…
Maybe talk to your DR instead of trusting what people say online.

mesa@piefed.socialto Fediverse@lemmy.world•📺 Introducing the Fediverse: a New Era of Social MediaEnglish3·4 days agoMeanwhile with content on every non-fediverse social network, it just takes one click to reach and interact with it (comment, upvote etc).
To be fair, you cant upvote and see the upvote on facebook from twitter. Same via versa. But you will on the fediverse.
But im glad you were able to get it working. The UI and search are places where developers are still working on many different ways to make it better. If you have software chops feel free to help out! Its almost all volunteer run. Be the change you want to see.
Everyone likes pie ;)

mesa@piefed.socialto Fediverse@lemmy.world•📺 Introducing the Fediverse: a New Era of Social MediaEnglish5·4 days agoYou have a couple of diferent options: You can try and search the video directly via your peertube instance.
https://videos.elenarossini.com/w/64VuNCccZNrP4u9MfgbhkN
and comment, upvote, down, etc…etc…If you want you can also navigate to the respective channel at that point and click subscribe.
You can also, alternatively, search fedifuture@videos.elenarossini.com on your search bar and the channel should pop up.
There needs to be a last panel where its the final version. Like when the car is turned on:
- Waterfall: It becomes a clown car and more people than it could handle is inside causing it to explode. Or is left as half finished because they ran out of money.
- Agile: Only the wheels go forward, rest of car stays.
- AI: The car goes straight up, not forward.
- Anger: Developer becomes angry at the car. Kicks it until it becomes a bike and rides off.

mesa@piefed.socialto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What communities or instances do you have blocked to make your Lemmy experience more enjoyable?English5·6 days agoI don’t block much but I do have a couple of filters that do good work on Piefed.
mesa@piefed.socialto Fediverse@lemmy.world•Is it possible to see if an article has already been posted?English4·6 days agoYep works great. The only caviot is the Piefed instance must be federated with the other instance. But that’s usually the case so should be fine.
Peertube channels seem to have real issues on Lemmy. They fixed the links earlier in the year…then it broke again. That’s just one instance.
Piefed works out of the box and if you upvote, it shows up on the peertube instance. Comments as well. Take a look at !peertube@lemmy.world on both lemmy.world and piefed.social. you can see the difference when clicking on someone’s account.
Significantly different in most communities. Much more collab work for one. Plus faster changes in general. Hard to game an algorithm when everyone has a different one and in different places. The people are just nicer here. I feel like I can actually have a conversation without being drowned.
