There have been two instances that have made headlines around the world in the past few weeks that may make it seem like Irish society in general is leaning further to the right. I hope this isn’t true.

While not a renaissance fair exactly, there is a jousting tournament in Leeds Castle in Kent once or twice a year. It’s a lot of fun with armour, swords, horses, the whole shebang.

The shows were just 30 minute adverts for the toys. Some of my greatest playtime as a kid was when Cobra Commander teamed up with Darth Vader but was eventually defeated by G.I. Joes and R2D2.
