What’s the go-to vendor/manufacturer for this sort of dumb tv these days?
What’s the go-to vendor/manufacturer for this sort of dumb tv these days?
This is incomprehensible. Magnets? Exposed? The TV picture looks like shit but it works?
Like fast food.
TV didn’t mediate your social relationships.
As far as I can tell it’s always a VM or a Docker VM.
Does anyone know how light the Docker is? Will it stress out an underpowered device like a low end, but not ancient, Synology?
That must feel luxurious.
I see. I didn’t realize they were demanding that it goes so deep as to demand the ability to replace the system software.
Interesting. So the stuff about a letter of credit or the App Store download number requirements are both not being enforced?
Sandboxing isn’t a requirement for apps or anything else?
I can just make a side loading App Store and invent new app types and software types for iOS and install them how ever I like as an App Store owner?
I don’t mean they manage them like they are the manager of a physical store. I just mean there are still platform rules, and agreements and TOS. Things alternative app stores need to adhere to.
If I’m mistaken, and alternative app stores can say, install a Springboard replacement, that’s big news I missed.
I think Apple still manages third party app stores too. And there will be rules. If this was totally without rules or terms, then it would just mean it’s wide open to side loading. It wouldn’t mean there was a new alternative App Store system.
“They willfully broke our TOS and we don’t trust them to not do it again.”
We really need all TOS to be enforced fully so we can start pushing back on onerous TOS.
But third party app stores are so popular!
Requiring written opt out for technology that otherwise is internet connected should be considered undue burden. It should also be considered a choice the company made to reduce the number of people opting out.
“As you can see your honor, we actually lost 400 million last year. Negative profit. It looks like you actually owe us money when you calculate the proposed fine…”
People already sleep in SocialVR in VR headsets. Social Sleeping.
Thats just the tip of the spear.
Cynical nerds will just tell you this is how the internet is and always was. They will tell you moderation is basically impossible. And they will go on and on about other things related to those things.
I really hate how “the internet” gets so compartmentalized. It’s a communication medium that exists in the real world. It’s not an alternate reality.
I hope we can move from expecting every platform and website to house the best and worst of humanity. But maybe it’s just the neckbeards who expect that. I hope so.
Sorry for my rant. But I deeply sympathize with the sentiment in your comment. I don’t think the internet has to be a shithole.
Oh, I see why you have downvotes now. Your post title is a fair question.
You shouldn’t look at social communities of people as tools like that. Thats the disconnect and why you’re getting a strong reaction.
