As others have said, you can completely disable the stock launcher through ADB commands. At that point, if you hit home, you’ll be asked which app to perform that action with. Select your launcher, click “Always”, and done.

You can even just do Ctrl+A, Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V.

It somehow feels… Wrong, but it just works.

• use Flauncher for a home screen / launcher without any ads
• Jellyfin, obviously
• Steamlink also works perfectly
• plus, the remote is amazing (though I would recommend to either disable or rebind the Netflix button)

Maybe. But there are third options as well - maybe if Adobe acts like you describe, and there is sufficient Linux adoption, that opens the door for an actual crossplatform competitor.

No, you are right. In your situation, Linux is just not an option - yet.

I think these posts are meant for the 95% of people that use a browser, and maaaaybe a mail client on their PC.

Photoshop/Illustrator will only ever get ported if enough people have already made the move that Adobe can’t afford to ignore Linux any longer.

I’ve been using it for 10 years. Back then, it just started out as a chat app with group support - just like Wahstapp, but free (yes, WA used to cost money) and way better than SMS.

My entire social circle switched to it, and has been using it ever since. Why? Because to this day, it’s easily the best chat app, feature wise. Literally every time WhatsApp or Signal or Threema add a shiny new feature, Telegram has already had it for a while.

Since Covid however, there is a huge stigma attached to it, and I do get why. It’s sad, really. I wish there was a 1:1 clone of Telegram’s chat features, minus the Channels (or whatever they are called).

I know it’s been three weeks, but thanks for telling me about this! I might actually do this, for the projects here and there which aren’t packaged into nixpkgs (yet).

Thanks for the recommendation! Looks like a great option. Actually, the p2p aspect prompted me to have another look at the Jitsi docs, and lo and behold, there’s an option for that, as long as no more than 2 people participate in a chat… (The reason I’d prefer Jitsi is actually just that NixOS comes with options for jitsi out of the box, for Miro I would have to introduce containers into my setup :D)
