Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•Call Management keeps pasting from my clipboard every time I copy somethingEnglish
7·2 years agoDoes a reboot fix the issue? Seems like it’s recognizing something as a phone number which isn’t a phone number. A reboot might reset whatever daemon is causing the issue.

AssholeDesign@lemmy.world•My bank gives me the option to opt out of marketing communications. It takes three clicks to opt out of each category, and there are three pages like this!English
49·2 years agoIf this is the marketing opt-out screen you know damn well they’re selling everything they can about your purchase and banking histories. I would change to a credit union post haste.
You’re missing out. Lower Decks is easily one of the best trek shows if you like trek. Also they do a crossover episode with Strange New Worlds.
This is what i do. Star Trek playlist gets put on when i’ve got nothing else to watch. Random episodes of all trek is my happy place.

World News@lemmy.world•Russia announced it had deployed, to Ukraine, its best new artillery-detecting radar. Hours later, the Ukrainians blew it up—with artillery.English
54·2 years agoThat makes it even worse. Why didn’t they set up at night and throw up some camo netting? There are ways to lessen the chances your radar is blown up is all I’m saying. The ruzzians are morons exhibit #4,832.
Edit:
This was tucked away at the bottom of the article:
It’s possible the Ukrainians knew where to look for the Yastreb-AV because the truck-mounted phased-array radar emitted a distinctive signal—one Ukrainian intelligence may have had on file.
So they probably did radiate at the wrong time and paid for it.

412·2 years agoI was a counter battery radar operator. The systems I used 20 years ago had these neat things called electronic counter measures. I guess russia never got the message that it’s not a smart idea to radiate in a zone with anti-radiation missiles.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Today's web is the opposite of what early Internet utopians had in mind. Now the situation is somewhat similar to climate change: even committed activists can no longer turn the tide for the better.
4·2 years agobut I think (hope?) it’s a net positive.
Definitely a net positive. My friend and I were discussing something similar the other day. He rides motos and I ride downhill and we both learned via youtube. What used to be restricted to people who could afford private lessons or coaching are now available to people even in third world countries. It’s opened up a lot of new horizons for people.

Gaming@lemmy.world•Don't record footage of Baldur's Gate 3 on XboxEnglish
42·2 years agoIf you take off everyone’s camp cloths and underwear in BG3 they show up naked at camp, including cutscenes some of which are very serious. It makes for some hilarious scene remixes. You can have them naked all the time if you want but I don’t want poor Astarion to have his dingdong cut off by a gobbo.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Has google stopped working for finding anything?
8·2 years agoIt’s why I switched to DuckDuckGo. At least there I can find the result in a few pages. Google doesn’t even respect operators anymore. Want to search for enterprise but don’t want car ads? Good luck finding captain Picard through all that nonsense.
