Same. I have a low paying white collar job that I don’t enjoy. I thought I would start learning development just in time or AI and then layoffs. It makes me feel really sick and scared for the future.

A lot of posts and videos have been put up about how it will be fine. That AI won’t take jobs and even with the layoffs, they say head counts are still up, but it feels pretty hopeless to me.

I don’t know what else to do, so I’m just going to keep trying and keep pushing myself to be a better dev. Maybe I’ll get there someday.

That is exactly what I did. If you Google it, you can find a list of the cheapest countries. Some of the cheaper options didn’t work for some reason related to how payments are processed in those places but I found one that went worked on the 3rd or 4th try.

If I remember right, I was able to use Ukraine. I think Argentina is the cheapest around $1 a month.

I’m happy to pay for product and services I use at reasonable prices. It makes me angry that they can offer this service for much less and still make.

It’s weird. When I moved from KS to MO, MO was less crazy but now that I’m here it feels like KS is calming down and MO is now losing its shit with all this stupidity.

Also, I really want malls to be turned into mixed use facilities. Like all the small stores are apartments and the big anchoring spaces on the ends of the mall would be grocery stores and shopping. Imagine you forgot to pick up milk after work so you just walk to the other end of the mall and buy it. I love that idea.

This. I work in commercial real estate and it’s kind of hard to turn into house. It’s cheaper for them to just knock it down and start over.

The issue is the electricity and plumbing. In a commercial building these tend to run up and down the middle or just one side of the building. Apartments need to equally have access to utilities so they’d had to do a ton of construction to move plumbing and wiring into the correct places.

I can’t speak for the CS:Go version. Haven’t seen it. But I will say, part of one Valorant player’s complaints wasn’t just the things others call you, it’s also the fact that they aren’t willing to play with you at all. Your teammates are actively hostile with you and aren’t willing to even try to cooperate in a team based game.

I didn’t until recently. I wanted to give companies I valued credit, in some way. But, ads are completely out of control and it broke me so I started using ublock a few months ago. It’s so much better and I’m not looking back.

Yeah, just 8. I was worried about only 8 actually but I couldn’t bring myself to spend the extra money on the 16gb (I have a desktop if I need to fall back on it).

So far so good. I haven’t even noticed hitting a wall with the low amount of ram. I forgot to mention, I’m just coding websites. Even with the JavaScript, I’m not building AAA or doing a ton, really.
