I love that one too! Though my fave is Avianos. I’d love to see a UFO 50 more where they do some follow ups of some of these. Or open up modding or something.

xyguy@startrek.websiteto A Boring Dystopia@lemmy.world•Protests Are Threats ActuallyEnglish11·8 months agoThe trick is to pirate the media from problematic artists, that way you can enjoy it and still have the moral high ground.
In the song the Sk8r boy is the hero who triumphs in the end so i think it makes sense.
This guy isn’t kidding about the garage door springs. I had some of the old style ones in my old garage that broke and launched a piece of metal across the garage right past my head and made a giant dent in a 2x4. Those things are vicious.

But, you cant change the colors of the lights anymore. So basically garbage at this point.
xyguy@startrek.websiteto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•If you don't work IT, retail, or food service what do you do for work?English2·1 year agoDoes it count if i used to work in IT?
I still work in IT but I used to too.
In my youth I worked at a 24 hour gas station/restaurant for 2 weeks. It was robbed twice (not while i was there) and someone hit and ran and smashed up my car all in 2 weeks. But i did get unlimited coffee, pop and donuts (after 6pm) so overall I’d give it a 3/5.

xyguy@startrek.websiteto Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•2G, 3G, 4G, 5G mobile data made some sense as it represents generational leaps in the technology itself but then Xfinity wants to advertise "10g" internet...English11·1 year agoI was genuinely convinced they offered 10gig service in some markets. Doesn’t surprise me that its all marketing nonsense.
Just a tip for anyone who wants to know, if you have Comcast business internet they’ll tell you you have to use their modem but, you can swap it out with a 3rd patty modem and use the live chat service to get it activated. Then you can send back their modem for free at a ups store. Every salesperson will tell you its not possible but it absolutely is.
We had an older Hitachi tv with 4 HDMI plus component plus RCA input and 4 different options for audio input.
New Samsung TV. 2 HDMI, that’s it. One is ARC which is the only audio interface besides TOSLINK so really theres effectively 1 HDMI to use.
But of course all the lovely
spywaresmart features more than make up for it.

That should be plenty.
Is there a way I can also contribute to a botnet at the same time? That would be ideal.

xyguy@startrek.websiteto Technology@lemmy.world•Revisiting Browser Trust - Security Now. Browser Certificate Stores and QWACsEnglish7·1 year agoThe real issue with QWACS is the idea that the EU government requires them to be added to web browsers running in the EU. It’s bad enough that France and Germany can issue those certificates but imagine Erdogan’s government pushing them out.
It’s not like any politician knows how the Internet works and that someone who knows better couldn’t rip those certificates out, but the tyranny of the default means that governments will have more control over EU citizens browsing. That’s not something likely to benefit anyone.
Its sort of related to the reason that Sharknado isnt a good movie but The Room is even though they both objectively suck.
A genuine but shitty attempt at art will always be more valuable and interesting than a soulless replication of the thing its trying to emulate.
