More than 70 young people were arrested on Saturday by security forces on charges of organising a gay wedding in north-east Nigeria, where such unions are criminalised and violence against the LGBT+ community is widespread.

I know Nigeria is mixed Abrhamics. However, I have had many conversations online with evangelical Nigerians and WOW they are WILDLY delusional, even moreso than the most uneducated American hillbilly Christians.
I don’t think you know the region. The Sahel is primarily Muslim, the coastal regions were infiltrated by European Bible thumpers in the 19th century. These missionaries pushed their religious delusions onto the populace while capitalists (cut deals that they often reneged on) to rob the environment dry.
