Republican Speaker of the House Mike Johnson, in his first remarks after being elected Wednesday afternoon, told Members of Congress that “Scripture” and “the Bible” are clear that they have been “ordained” by God.

One thing they could do is go after the radical talk radio ecosystem instead of arguing that corporations have the right to own all the stations and promote radical fascism as “free speech”, and then quit saying stupid shit like “we should just debate them and win with better ideas”.

This certainly seems… problematic. What would “going after” these stations and hosts even look like? Would they be prohibited from discussing certain topics, or operating entirely? Is it only when they’re spreading misinformation? Aside from the obvious 1A issues, how would you prevent abuse when power swings the other way and it’s now the right deciding who to go after?

And one other thing: you have entirely ignored that corporations were given all the power to push this shit and utterly reject any and all free speech from the left ALREADY. We have ALREADY LOST. There is no situation in which the right gains power in the future and crushes opposing views because IT HAS ALREADY HAPPENED.

I’m sorry but I have no idea what you’re talking about. Can you point to an example where freedom of speech on the left has been restricted?

Its a long story, but since the FCC got deregulated the public service requirement was removed. Corporations were allowed to buy up all the broadcast stations they wanted instead of being restricted, and radical fascist talk shows were put in rotation and all opposing opinions removed. It is exactly why we got the Tea Party, the MAGAts, and all the radically fascist Nazi uprising when trump showed up. If you want to know more, a podcast series from On The Media was made recently about it called “The Divided Dial”. It’s the first time I heard anyone else finally name this problem that I have been yelling about for many years now. This is 1930s Germany and 1990s Ruwanda broadcast warfare

Boy I sure am tired of this weak-assed, Neville Chamberlain argument. Liberals always defend the Nazis and shake their fingers and DONT DO A GODDAMN MOTHERFUCKING THING TO DEFEND THE FUCKING FREE SPEECH FOR ANYONE ON THE LEFT.

I’ve heard this argument a thousand times and it still entirely fucking ignores everything that got us here.

REPEAL THE TELECOMMUNICATIONS ACT. ENFORCE THE FAIRNESS DOCTRINE. REINSTATE THE FCC REQUIREMENT THAT ALL BROADCASTS MUST SERVE THE PUBLIC GOOD.

FUCK NAZIS AND ANYONE WHO DEFENDS THEM.

I heard Glen Beck blabbing about how current events are aligned with end time prophecy today. It’s fucking crazy how these morons think, and even crazier that they have a nationwide megaphone.
