Around 30 men are crammed into a Kabul classroom, part of the debut student cohort at a Taliban-run institute training tourism and hospitality professionals.

The students vary in age, education level and professional experience. They’re all men — Afghan women are banned from studying beyond sixth grade — and they don’t know anything about tourism or hospitality. But they are all eager to promote a different side of Afghanistan. And the Taliban are happy to help.

Despite the challenges, Saeed wants Afghanistan to become a tourism powerhouse, an ambition that appears to be backed by the Taliban’s top leaders. […] “I have been sent to this department on the instructions of the elders (ministers). They must trust me because they’ve sent me to this important place.”

An unofficial subject is how to interact with foreign women and how their behavior or habits could clash with local customs and edicts. Examples might be women smoking or eating in public, to mixing freely with men who are not related to them by blood or marriage. […] The Taliban have imposed a dress code for women and requirements for them to have a male guardian, or mahram, when they travel. Dining alone, traveling alone, and socializing with other women in public have become harder. With gyms closed to women and beauty salons banned, there are fewer places where they can meet outside the home.

Cosmic level irony right here. Killed, terrorized and deposed in the name of power just to end up having to play the same game with the same rules.

Fuck it let’s take it to the next level. This says way more about the balance of power on a world scale than the failures of these morons. This planet runs on economic subjugation, from every single individual and to any group that becomes powerful enough to upset the status quo, you will grease the wheel or you have no better use than to be fed into the meat grinder.

Every day I inch closer to nihilism, today feels like a giant leap forward.

I mean, I don’t know about anyone else, but I’m going to keep my not-obviously-cishet-male ass home, thanks. For some reason I just can’t bring myself to trust their government.

Wasn’t there some influencer who went to Afghanistan, saying he’d be safer there than in the West, and they killed him? Maybe they shouldn’t have done that …

One must be truly fucking retarded to consider Afghanistan as a travel destination.

As people nowadays lack common fucking sense the Taliban might be successful with their undertaking.

It scares me that young unexperienced people can be directly influenced through social media to fucking believe Afghanistan is a nice place to visit. Even more scary is the fact that there is a high chance that travel advertisments target young western women because they are the main target audience for the “travel lifestyle”.

    Absolutely horrible.

There was a woman who hitch hiked through the middle east to show it’s safe (ended predictably) so may be that could be their angle. Prove to every one that you don’t believe the propaganda that the Taliban is bad.

Remember kids, if you kill enough people, and strike terror into the hearts of the people for long enough, you can become a sovereign government, just like the Taliban.

      “they’re”

Seriously? You’ve even edited the comment yet somehow didn’t fix that.
