I am new to the Fediverse however I used Reddit a lot, no any more, and something I think after using a bunch of third party apps is that the official app excels in how comments display.
Almost the same occurs with Lemmy: there is no client that displays posts and comments like Reddit does. I’ve tried Eternity, Summit, Boost, Jerboa, Thunder, Connect, Voyager, Sync, shit I’ve even tried the web app with PWA and not even one excels. It is a shame.
Am I a nostalgic idiot? Does anyone have any recommendations? I am clearly open to it.
have… have you ever tried third party reddit clients? because the official one was an absolute dumpster fire compared to most of them.
Tesseract, maybe? (https://tesseract.dubvee.org for a demo; it defaulted to my instance but is unlocked to allow any).
It’s modeled mostly off of “new” Reddit as of last year (minus the parts I didn’t like).
Quiblr (PWA) is very similar to Reddit UI, take a look
How would you like posts to be displayed?
more ads, maybe?
Like the Reddit official app.
I never used Reddit so I cannot comment on that, but I have tried a few Lemmy apps, I think Boost is the favorite one, it shows avatars and such and I actually get notifications. Many other Fediverse apps don’t for whatever reason - Pixelfed being #1. The only difficulty I have is replying to a picture comment.
Maybe Reddit owns the “Rights” to that style, who knows.
What did you like about the official app? I only used Reddit is Fun. I found the official app cumbersome but I only tried it a very long time ago and went back to Rif.
I haven’t been on Reddit since the API debacle. I use Thunder. Took two weeks to get used to it.
