Scenes like the one on my streetcar, and often far worse, have become common in our cities as Canada suffers through a triple epidemic of mental illness, addiction and homelessness
This is an extremely ignorant and privileged anecdote. Involuntary care would be fine if it was actually care. But what “involuntary care” actually means is cops attacking people, encaging people, leeching and counter-productive “mental health care”, pseudo-science, etc…
The actual root problems (lack of housing, etc) are never attacked because the state/cops serve the capital that profits. The system of profiting from human needs requires human deprivation and suffering.
