For those out of the loop, Breitbart is a far-right, US-based disinformation outlet that promotes climate change denialism, anti-vaxx, pro-Trump election conspiracies, white nationalism, anti-feminism, various Russian disinformation campaigns, and numerous outright falsehoods and deliberately misleading stories.

On Wikipedia, not only have we deprecated Breitbart as a source outright because of its utter unreliability, but we also blacklisted links to it after Breitbart doxed Wikipedia editors.

This post was prompted by a brand-new user, @Ginja@lemmy.world, whose account is under a day old and is continuously posting anti-vaxx, anti-immigrant, etc. content to this community, including a link to Breitbart which only has a positive upvote ratio because not enough people are familiar with Breitbart and are mostly just reading the headline. There is absolutely nothing to gain by having Breitbart here, as it deals nearly exclusively in disinformation, and what few morsels of truth you can dig out of it like corn out of shit could be simply linked to a better news source.

Continuously? I’ve made 8 posts on Lemmy in total since joining this morning, and 1/4 of them are in meme communities.

Attack Breitbart all you want, but going after me just because I’m new and used a source you don’t like is bullshit man.

You could have easily sent this as a message to the mods.
