Can this Bag Still be Fixed?
The bag is The North Face Kaban. I went to some shops that repairs bags and they said they couldn’t repair it.
North Face typically has a pretty good policy on repairs and such. Could contact them and see what they say.
North Face replaced a tent for me that had rips in the mesh. Definitely reach out to them.
This is good advice. Some brands really have their customers ( or their image ) in mind and replace their products, without many questions asked.
I echo the suggestion to contact North Face. If they can’t repair it, talk with a tailor or an upholsterer.
Nylon repair tape. Won’t look great but it’s inside the bag so who cares.
Agree with nylon repair tape generally, but I think this is the shoulder strap’s lower attachment point, which would be a very different story to random interior damage.
Oh I see. I guess an ugly stitching/patching job with a strong thread then.
Maybe also check with !sewing@lemmy.world or !sewingrepairing@sh.itjust.works.
Is this the lower shoulder strap attachment point?
There is a decent chance North Face will be willing to repair it.
I think if you just patch it, unless you fix it in a stronger way, whatever wear pattern that caused this will probably reappear in this area again. Maybe that buys you a couple years or however long this took and that would be worth it to you. It looks to me like that spot is a pretty complicated area with lots of panels meeting up. So it might not be very easy to fix strongly in a way that looks nice. If the stylishness of the bag is pretty important to you, it might not be a great beginner DIY project.
Try someone who fix clothes.
If you need to repair it yourself, yes it can be fixed. You need to fold and sew each edge before sewing the two edges together so it doesn’t unravel.
