twice the size of world’s tallest building
5,250 feet above
Just say nearly 1 mile high. Why are reporters so averse to standard measurements?
5,280 feet is 1,584 Canada geese stacked on top of each other for our neighbors up north unfamiliar with imperial units.
Good bot
Doesn’t sound as dramatic or clickbaity.
Where is the problem? It says “1600 meter”, which is perfectly fine and easy to scale. Initially, I was worried because they started with this “foot” thing while still having the word “science” in their name.
That was great. Too funny but 100% on point.
“You asked about the temperature–”
“I did not!”
5000 sounds higher than 1
Like you are averse to using the SI-System?
I’d love to know why. Giving me measurements in units of football fields, elephants, Olympic swimming pools, Empire State Buildings, or Mount Everest are fucking meaningless.

Just say 1.6 kilometers then. I’m not averse to metric, the measurement was just really close to a mile so I used that.
Agreed
