So the code hosting site Codeberg has been experiencing attacks by far right organizations for a bit now. Recently, the attacks escalated when someone created a repo and then mentioned a bunch of usernames in bulk. The result was that people includong myself received email notifications containing hate speech.

Codeberg did apologize but it really isn’t their fault https://blog.codeberg.org/we-stay-strong-against-hate-and-hatred.html

Certainly more than mildly infuriating but anyone in the fediverse could ping your handle on some racist tirade and if you setup to recieve email notifications you will get them in your inbox. Sounds like it would be great if codeberg had a setting to ignore mentions not in repos you are subscribed to or something (have not used codeberg and no idea what the options are).

Apparently my account is too new to upload images

But I got an email that somebody had tagged me in an issue called “N****R BALLS”

Thanks, I understand better. It’s difficult to block accounts posting crap on issues and MRs using their “legit” account. It reminds me that I wanted to subscribe to the Codeberg association and give them money. Now is the time to do this.
